Between 25 - 29 January 2012, Tropical cyclone Iggy occurred in the Indian Ocean south of West Java, causing 15 fatalities and 60 injuries, along with damage to an estimated 2,364 houses in 35 districts/cities in Java and Bali. 32 earthquakes measuring 5.0 or above on Richter scale (RS) occured across the country during January. The largest of these (6.3 RS) struck 48 km off southwest Manggarai Barat, West Nusa Tenggara on 21 January Three people were killed and thousands of families temporarily displaced by floods Currently there are 4 volcanoes with alert level III and 20 volcanoes with alert level II

Tropical cyclone Iggy, occurred in the Indian Ocean south of West Java. The cyclone triggered heavy rains and whirlwinds in the islands stretching from southern Lampung to southern Arafuru Sea. Affected area: Tabanan (3 casualties), Purbalingga (3 casualties), Kediri (1 casualty), Banyumas (1 casualty), South Jakarta (1 casualty), Wonosobo (1 casualty), Ciamis (1 casualty), Pasuruan (1 casualty), Karangasem (1 casualty), and Serang (1 casualty). Flood, Affected area: Lebak (9,100 families across 63 villages), Serang (2,723 families across 45 villages), Pandeglang (10,649 families across 34 villages) and Tangerang (4,128 families across 19 villages). Tangerang District experienced another flood on 26 January that severely damaged 71 houses in Kresek sub-district; an additional 235 houses suffered light damage. Volcano, Volcanoes with alert level 3: Mt. Papandayan, Mt. Lokon, Mt. Ijen, Mt. Karangetang Volcanic activity at Mt. Gamalama in North Maluku and Mt. Ile Lewotolo in East Nusa Tenggara), the Volcanology and Geology Disaster Mitigation Agency (PVMBG) decreased their alert levels from 3 to 2 during the month.
