Once again, it’s sale time and it’s hard to believe another year has passed. I will start by catching you up on the family. Remember that if family does not come first, it is very difficult for the cattle operation to be successful. We were blessed with our third grandchild back in May when baby Callah was born, Colton and Cassie’s first child, my granddaughter
Neleigh turned two in April and in August Tucker turned four (future trail boss). As for the rest of the family we are all blessed with good health and are doing well. It has been really dry here in southern Iowa this year, Landon and I have had to really hustle around to get enough feed put together to make it until spring, but I think we are in good shape now.
We are as always very excited to host another female sale. the cattle in this sale offering continue to represent what the type and kind we believe in, our philosophy is to produce functional cattle that can excel in all phases of the cattle industry, so we try and select our seed stock to be of proven genetics and excel in most all the traits that we deem relevant. As times have changed over the years farm and ranch operations have less time to spend with their cattle, so traits like calving ease, docility and udder quality have become more important. Production and performance have always been our main goal, but we continue to try and improve all traits and EPD’s are the best tool we have to accomplish this. Longevity is another trait that is import to us and I can tell you the average age for a cull cow in our herd is around 14 years old.
We work closely with our local vets to provide the best vaccination program possible; we take no short cuts when it comes to animal health. The cattle in this sale have been fully vaccinated for each stage of their life and are current with their vaccine shots. We do recommend that you scour vac
