Once again, we have put a great emphasis on cow families and could not be more proud of this year’s results. The successes our customers have had with Jewels of the Northland Genetics have exceeded the show ring and they have truly proven to be front pasture, production orientated breeding stock. Fell in love with Sheza Glory when I first laid eyes on her in the sale runs at Sunset View Farms. I remember telling my sister-in-law Adrienne, I think we just found the perfect donor to produce some awesome fronted show prospects that will just float when they are set into motion. Sure is fun when you can have a plan and see it happen even more effectively than you ever imagined. Forest Brook Farms, WI, purchased a Duff New Edition daughter a couple years ago for $11,000 and absolutely love her. K-Ler Simmentals purchased an Ever Ready daughter in Jewels two years ago for $7,000 and they too are extremely satisfied customers. Sheza Glory has been the perfect donor. She pretty much volunteers to get her shots, consistently freezes 15-30 per flush and can flat out raise one on her own too. Right before writing this footnote, we had her set up on shots, ran her in and clipped her quick, out to the picture pen where she was the easiest one of the entire offering to get a great picture of and then froze 20 embryos a couple days later. I know the decision to offer this one will come back to haunt me for many years but the decision was made months ago to have a pure Lot 1 sale feature and here she is boys. Sells no strings attached. This kind of opportunity usually only comes along in a dispersal but in this situation, we will continue to do all we can to help promote this female. Just take her home and let the magic happen. Footnote for Lots 2-7: Four show prospects out of three different sires but they all were stamped with the trademark Sheza Glory gorgeous front third and sound structure. The two High Regard daughters are as angular, pretty and feminine as you will find. Follow behind and they are wide based and big topped. These two are destined to do some major damage in the show ring. Working For Glory is Gloryâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s natural calf and has caught her share of second and third looks this fall with her extra length of front. She is long from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail. She has been a favorite around the farm all fall. If you are in search of a SimAngusâ&#x201E;˘ show prospect, the Payday has all the parts and pieces it takes to compete at the highest levels of competition. She has a great personality and Franklin, our donkey, would like everyone to know this is his personal favorite. They hit it off instantly and she was broke in a matter of minutes. The Glory sons are equally impressive. They too are long sided and sound made. This year is our first set of ET calves out of Sweet Gem and boy has she really proven herself, not only as a beautiful heifer maker but as an impressive bull producer as well. Sweet On You is about as elegant and stylish as you can make a purebred heifer. She’s had a striking profile since the day she hit the ground and she just seems to get better by the day! I think someone could have a lot of fun hauling her around the show circuit this coming summer. It’s hard to part with this guy and for good reason, we absolutely love him. He’s so easy on the eyes and his pedigree is stacked with some of the best genetics in the breed. His now deceased sire, Duracell, produced a lot of great ones during his relatively short time 3/4 Pose Z504 of production and his dam, Steel My Heart, stems from the great H25 cow family and had a tremendous show career herself for Cramer Schneider, KY, before entering their donor program. Duration’s full sister, CAJS Sweet Emotion, sold for $16,500 in Louisville last year and was crowned Intermediate Champion at the Ohio State Fair this past summer for Ferguson Show Cattle, OH. We had every intention of keeping Duration and using him ourselves for clean up on our heifers but after some very limited use this past summer, we got to thinking about his future and what he has to Steel My Heart offer the industry and realized that he truly deserves a whole lot more than just breeding a few head every year and really needs to find himself a home where he can be utilized to his fullest potential. This trio of heifers out of Neon are sure to find some friends on sale day and create a little buzz. We purchased Neon as the top selling bred in the 2011 Denver sale for her combination of phenotype and outcross pedigree. This is basically her first set of ET calves and the first heifers we’ve gotten out of her. By the looks of it, she’s got a really bright future ahead of her. Splash has been an absolute stunner since the day she hit the ground and she has had her fair share of admirers throughout the summer because of it. This is another one of those beautiful Make It Rain daughters that just seems to get better by the day. She’s so smooth and beautiful through her front one third and sweeps it back into a big full rib. She’s got a soft pastern, good stride and floats on the move. Add in her splash of white and this girl is just darn classy! Neon Sky is made a lot like Splash except with even more rib shape and volume. This girl is huge middled and just as rocket fronted as Splash with the same good set of feet and legs. Their sister Glow is made just a little bit different being a longer bodied heifer with a really strong top, full upper rib and sits real square on a good set of feet and legs. Her sire, HS Explorer, was one of the top selling bulls in the 2012 Gentlemen’s Sale and though you might not have heard of him, he did a stellar job in his first year of limited use and I know you’ve heard of his dam, Glitter. She’s been producing sale toppers and show ringers for years and I think this heifer is molded a lot like the Glitter babies are. A Neon daughter by Supremacy, FBF1 Glowing Image, raised by Forest Brook Farms, WI, was recently crowned reserve champion Simmental heifer at the 2013 World Beef Expo and sold 1/2 interest to Classy Cattle Co., WI for $10,000. We are super excited for what the future has in store for these three beauties!

From day one, these two Sharper Image 3/4 blood heifers have been the barn favorites for their great dispositions, especially A336. A336 is as tame as they come. These two also had lots of fans this summer on pasture but every one came up with a different one as their favorite. I’ve always had a soft spot for this heifer probably because she is the first one to greet you when you walk into the pen and the last one to get out of your way. This heifer has been a standout since birth and is probably my favorite heifer in our offering. She is a deep ribbed, wide based Upgrade daughter with extra eye appeal. She goes back to JS Simmental’s popular donor, Burning Power. Her Built Right dam is one of the best young cows in our herd, and weaned our top weaning weight heifer this fall. She’s due in March to Super Salution, our new heifer bull. Don’t discount her for being bull bred, as he has some pretty impressive credentials of his own. He is a Salution son of Amanda’s Cherry cow, the 2005 AJSA National Champion Female. A maternal sister was a high selling open heifer in last year’s sale, and 2 full sisters were part of the 2013 Grand Champion Pen of Three females in Denver. Z176 is a stout, solid black female that is thick and easy fleshing. They have 2 maternal sisters in production that are among the best cows in our herd. Stella has done an outstanding job in her first year of production producing this stylish black baldy calving ease prospect and she herself has developed into a beautiful young cow with a gorgeous udder and great look. The footnote that I saved for last….every year I seem to save my favorite individual for last so here it goes. This one has been a standout from day one and acquired his name early. Sometimes I forget that he is just a March baby. Been told numerous times that March calves shouldn’t have this much mass, volume, substance. He is an absolute belly dragger. Some have said it isn’t fair that he has more hair than most heifers that spend their days in a cooler. Maybe it isn’t fair either that he is has one of the largest scrotal measurements you will find for a bull this age but he does have all these things going his way and that is what makes him so special. His dam is just starting to show us what she can do. Last year we sold her first ET daughter to hit the ground in Jewels of the Northland and she was second high selling open at $25000 going to Latzke Simmentals, MN. This year she has proved her versatility by producing our top bull calf this year. We can’t wait to start utilizing What A Man in our program and are looking for someone to partner on what we feel is one of the top stud bull prospects to be offered for sale this fall. Selling 1/2 semen interest and no possession with the option to double the bid for full possession and 3/4 semen interest.
