Dear Fellow Cattlemen and Cattlewomen,
I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the 6th Annual Performance, Pedigree, Power Bull Sale. As I write this letter, prices are still near all-time highs and cattle inventories are still at all-time lows. I think that we will all agree that we have sold cattle for more money this past year than we ever have. It is truly and exciting time to be involved in the beef industry!

Without a doubt, this set of bulls is the best that we have offered for sale to date. Our cowherd is run like any commercial cowherd; we demand that our cows be efficient and are able to convert forage into pounds. With a couple drought ridden summers in our not so distant past, we still believe that efficient, sensibly frame sized cattle have proven their economic value. We are proud that our bulls will add pounds and fleshing ability at the same time.
We realize there are many bull sales as to which you can find a bull and we thank you for your consideration. We want to emphasize the fact that when you buy one of our bulls, you are not just buying a bull, but buying into a program that is committed to providing you the best product available anywhere. Every year we have people come through that have been to other sales and tell us that our bulls are as good as or better than anywhere they have been. All of the bulls will be ultrasounded and we will have that data available. They will also be fertility tested and will be ready to go to work. We provided you with this information to be let our bulls be as transparent as possible. We want you to be informed as you can be about your new purchase. I have always said that if breeders are not providing you with this data, they are trying to hide something. Again this year, our bulls were developed on Purina’s Impact Grower. Our bulls have also been BVD-PI tested negative.

SONS of SS INCENTIVE 9J17 I am not going to write a lot about these brothers in this sire group as they are all very good bulls and are cut from the same cloth. The Incentive sired SimAngus™ bulls are consistently as good as any Angus sired bulls that we have. They come small with lots of vigor and about early summer just explode. Many of these sons are out of first calf heifers and will be heifer safe themselves. They are bulls that have great dispositions and feet and soundness are also some of their strong points. If you make your living in the beef business, consider adding some of these genetics to your program, they are the profitable kind. The females are awesome mothers with great udders as well.

These three full brothers are full sibs to our National Western sale consignment this year, Battle Cry. We truly feel he is one of the most unique bulls to come along in quite some time and we will be using him extensively in our herd this spring. These bulls are all cut out of the same mold as their powerful brother. They are sound made bulls that move well and have lots of muscle and dimension to them. They have an attractive look and presence to them that will grab your attention. Their dam is an Upgrade x Lucky Dice x H25. H25 is also the dam of Broker. That’s right, they are line bred to one of the best cows in the breed. Their sire Broker, is as hot as any sire right now as well. B402 looks very, very similar to Battle Cry and will be in our pen in Denver. B406 and 462B had recips that did not do as good of a job with them and so they are not as far along in their development. Don’t discount them because of that as the quality is definitely there and they are catching up. Make sure you take advantage of this opportunity.

I think this bull is made as nice as any bull in the pen. He is as correct in his makeup as you can build one. He represents several generations of our breeding and it sure makes me proud to offer one this good. He is very smooth shouldered and clean headed. He was also extremely small when he was born and I think he could be used on bigger framed heifers.

This is my kind of bull. If we raised them all to look and perform like this bull, I would be a happy man. His dam is one of the best Angus cows on the place. He started with a moderate birth weight and absolutely exploded this summer. We ran him across the scale the other day and at 6 days shy of his 11 month birthday, he weighed 1410 pounds. We bought this bull as an embryo from our good friend, Dr. Tim Reimer at Trans Ova. I will be honest, I was hoping for a heifer, but when the bull came out looking like this, you won’t hear me complain. I love this bulls look and his soundness while still being super stout and deep bodied. We don’t try to raise many purebred Angus, but I don’t care what breed they are when they look like this.

We purchased these two bulls at the sides of their dams last fall from Kelly Martens in Missouri. I can say with confidence that those two cows are as good as it gets in our fall herd. Perfect uddered, moderate, stout, and still very feminine and attractive in their design. These two Unbelievable sons out of these cows are equally impressive. 548A is as big and stout of a bull as you will see out of cattle that are bred like this while still being attractive made and easy keeping. 980A is really cool looking bull that is a little more moderate in his frame. Maternal Calving Ease (MCE): Percent of unassisted births in first-calving daughters. Milk (MLK): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk. Marbling (MRB): Marbling score. Maternal Weaning Weight (MWW): Pounds of weaning weight due to milk and growth. Ribeye Area (REA): Square inches of ribeye. Warner-Bratzler Shear Force (WBSF): Pounds of force required to shear a steak. Stayability (STAY): Percent of daughters remaining in the cowherd at 6 years of age.
