Welcome Simmental Friends, Welcome to the South Dakota Simmental Association’s third annual Simmental Source Sale on December 14th. What a turn around this year has been! With crop production, more bales in the hay yard, and knee high grass in the pastures... This year’s sale has some outstanding consignments from show heifer prospects that are eligible for the juniors in the futurity shows to bred heifers that will add to your cow herd. Come join us Friday evening for our annual meeting and banquet to make new friends and meet up with old acquaintances. Clay Ekstrum, SDSA President

Fellow Simmental Enthusiasts, Welcome to the offering of the 3rd Annual South Dakota Simmental Source Sale. It is sincerely a pleasure for us to work with the South Dakota Simmental Association and its breeders in putting together this group of cattle and genetics. The breeders from South Dakota and surrounding states again this year have done an excellent job in selecting genetics and females for this sale that will go out and work for their new buyers. This year’s offering has a super set of open females that will make nice junior projects and some that will simply be outstanding heifers to go in the replacement female. The bred heifer offering looks great as well. There are a group of productive females that are ready to lay down and have a calf this spring start making money for you. There is a little something for everyone in this year’s sale. There are blacks and black blaze face females and Purebred and percentage heifers. You will also notice a few more red cattle on this year’s offering. Anyone looking to add some really nice red cattle to their herds should look closely, there is a nice offering of red females. We also have a 4 really nice groups of commercial bred females to sell this year. We invite you to make a weekend of it on December 14th. You are welcome to attend the SDSA banquet on Friday night and then come to the sale at noon on Saturday. If we can be of any assistance, please contact Val or Kelly at Eberspacher Enterprises or call the breeders and marketing representatives about the sale cattle. Have a great Thanksgiving, we hope to see you in Worthing! Kelly Schmidt Eberspacher Enterprises, INC.

Selling pick of Benda Ranch Bred & Open Females

It is our pleasure to offer the pick of our bred or open heifers in this year’s Source Sale. As we start our 40th year in the Simmental business, this is the first time we have offered a pick like this. Choose from 40 elite bred heifers or 100 open heifers. The breds are A.I. mated to Dew It Right for purebreds and Bismarck, Brilliance and Long Distance for half bloods. Our clean up bull, Hart Final Answer 0038, takes no back seat to any of these A.I. sires. The A.I. breds are due to calve mid to late February with one cycle of clean-up. All heifers are ultra sound tested with calf sex on most. Opens are by Shear Force, Dew It Right, embryo daughters of Upgrade x Kappes Saddie M166, Olie, Dream On, Club King, Above Par, Mo Better, Rushmore, Ammo, Blk Diamond, Tanker, ASR Pacesetter and Double J Straight Up. Angus by 878, Chisum, Long Distance and Hart Final Answer. Our herd produced the new ABS sire JBS Big Casino 336Y, JBS Miss Grand Design 505M (Chiquita), 2 BHSS Grand Champions including JBS Thriller 518G and many top sellers at the Northern Lights and SD State Sales. Our two bull sales have averaged $5,250 and $4,600. Choice to be made by January 15, 2014, for breds and opens by March 1, 2014. For more information, call Jim Benda at 605-730-6703

A genetic package that represents the cornerstone of our breeding program, Sadie M166. In 2007, her four sons were all sired by different AI sires and averaged $12,000. The most noted of these sons is Kappes Trailblazer S516, who is leased by Genex and owned by Jim Falck, IA. In our annual production sale, her lineage consistently sets the tone as the high selling lots. Three of her granddaughters sold as breds in our 2013 production sale averaging $7,333. Kappes Saddie T635 Y302 was purchased by Windy Creek Cattle Company, SD. Her bull calf posted an adjusted weaning weight of over 1,000 pounds. Her granddaughter, Kappes Sadie Z624, was successfully campaigned at several shows being named 15th overall at the 2013 National Junior Simmental Show. We are offering choice of three (3) grade 1 embryos. High Regard is one of the most popular Simmental bulls in the breed and sires females that are eye appealing and competitive in the show ring. His daughter, GCF Miss Roller Girl Z24, was just named Grand Champion Female 2013 Simmental Junior Nationals and 2013 American Royal. Steel Force has raised numerous amounts of high dollar cattle and national champions. High Octane is our new herd sire that has outproduced himself in his first calf crop and sires them with a tremendous amount of power and stoutness, hair and still offers it in a mobile package. This is truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Triple C Shear Design 503M

I am very excited to offer genetics out of my new donor Triple C Shear Design S03M. I purchased this powerhouse matron from Sanders Ranch and Sunset View at the Head of the Class sale earlier this fall. This female, of course, is a full sister to the Genex/Cow Camp Ranch herdsire Triple C Singletary as well as Triple C Bettis and L Taylor. I had to add this cow to my program as she combines some breed greats in Hooks Shear Force and the Josie cow family that did so much in the Gramm and Lucas programs. Shear Design has breed leading EPD’s and indexes, awesome phenotype and power all wrapped in to one phenomenal package. The potential for this female to make awesome bulls and females is here for the taking. She calved a few weeks ago with a super Packin Heat calf and will soon be ready to flush. These embryos will be ready for anyone wanting early spring calves. Offering 5 embryos to the bull of your choice. Buyer guarantees 2 pregnancies if work is performed by a certified embryologist. This cow has already done the homework for you! Just buy and reap the benefits! Triple C Singletary

It is not very often you have a chance to purchase proven Simmental genetics at its finest. That’s when I purchased this more than consistent donor from Double J Farms last year in this sale. One of her first bulls was champion and high seller at the Sioux Empire Farm Show in 2011 going to Todd Rau for $7,500. With this homozygous polled and black donor’s stunning phenotype, being super stout, huge bellied and sound structured then mated to the Triple Crown Champion Broker and the proven Lock N Load, we are more than excited about seeing her progeny. Buy with confidence and reward yourself! Offering 3 or 5 embryos by Broker or 3 embryos by Lock N Load. After the success that Adam Eichacker had with WINC DORA last summer, we decided to offer up her maternal sister so others could join in on the fun. Bella is almost a carbon copy of the female that led Adam to the backdrop numerous times in 2013. I asked my son Cash to describe Bella and his response was, “she is cool necked, huge bellied, monster legged, and moves like a dream.” Then he asked, “Dad why are we selling this one?” My response was she will make a great show heifer for some lucky junior and a great asset to their program. Her sire 764 was our pick of the Reimer operation a few years back and has done a tremendous job. Tested Homo Black/Homo Polled.

I always hear fellow breeders say they are looking for something a little different in pedigree. Well, here is a female that fits that bill. This soggy made, brood cow prospect has an outcross pedigree to many of the popular lines today, but still has that quality all the way through that makes her an interesting breeding piece. Her sire was a top selling bull a few years ago at the Sioux Empire Farm Show and came from the Jass Simmentals program. This heifer ranks in the top 10% for Stay and Doc, in the top 1% for Marb, in the top 3% for API and top 4% for TI while still performing very well. This is a very easy heifer to like. She is moderate in her frame, easy fleshing, sound in her structure, correct and fluid in her movement. This heifer is hard to fault or find a hole in. She is an own daughter of Shear Force, which are becoming harder to come by with him being deceased and semen limited. She comes from a highly maternal cow family that raises the power house bulls and the front pasture females. The guesswork is taken out, buy with confidence here. Her Top Grade calf should really work. Ultra sound safe.
