STRATEGIC PRIORITIES
This document sets out clear objectives that explain the priorities for the School to its staff, parents and other key stakeholders. They establish, and continue to build on, an exciting and progressive agenda for the School over the coming years. These priorities take into account the core values of the School, while understanding the areas of focus in order to develop and improve. We have developed our five strategic priorities openly in discussion with our governors, senior leadership teams and staff. We have also acknowledged and addressed feedback from surveys of parents, pupils and staff. We believe that these strategic priorities will support the delivery of our vision, which is:
OUR KEY STRENGTHS
ONE SCHOOL
Build on the strong One School foundations embedded in the previous strategic plan.
Continue to be the School of choice in East Kent and wider.
Align the whole school curriculum, ensuring all pupils benefit from specialist teaching and excellent facilities.
Provide a high standard and consistent co-curricular offering across the School, with a focus on skills programmes for all age groups.
Enable mentoring and collaboration opportunities for our pupils between the Prep and Senior School.
Implement a common set of values across the School.
To be recognised locally, nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence, empowering young people to make a difference in their changing world.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Encouraging pupils in their personal development journeys through a comprehensive PSHE programme, pupil and parent surveys and wider activities.
Ensure effective ‘learning outside of the classroom’ opportunities across the School.
Offer unrivalled school health and wellbeing provision.
Increase uptake of the Duke of Edinburgh award, incorporating award schemes for pupils across the Prep School.
Launch a Care, Craft and Cognition Award Scheme which truly reflects pupil development across the School.
INSPIRING ACHIEVEMENTS
Develop positive attitudes towards learning through such initiatives including the Pre-Senior Baccalaureate and Learning Habits.
Provide well-designed and clearly signposted pathways for pupils to be challenged and to succeed.
Secure the best onward destinations for all pupils on completion of their education at Ashford School.
Ensure that our curriculum both reflects and celebrates the diversity of our School and wider world communities.
Maximising the all-round offering to unlock potential in pupils across the breadth of School life, ensuring that pupils at all stages feel recognised.
Remain at the forefront of educational technology, ensuring its effective use to enable pupils to work with greater independence.
INSPIRING ACHIEVEMENTS
Celebrate a diverse curriculum with a continued focus on sport and the performing arts.
SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Ensure sustainability for the School into the long term.
Map out a clear timeline for decarbonising the site and becoming Carbon Neutral.
Invest in infrastructure to ensure a greener school.
Develop the Senior School sites with buildings offering character and enhanced green spaces.
Further identify opportunities for development and diversification.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Develop our external partnerships: locally, nationally and internationally.
Fully involve our people in the School Community, continue to support and build on alumni and PFA events.
Enhancing our profile through key local events and through our outstanding provision of Holiday Clubs, community swimming and local initiatives.
Continuing to encourage volunteering opportunities across the School and supporting charitable fundraising.
Create a programme of events in celebration of Ashford School’s 125th Anniversary.
