Please Note: Ebuzzing will only work with bloggers who implement NoFollow tags in all sponsored content As clearly stated in our organization’s Code of Conduct it is mandatory for all Ebuzzing sponsored articles to include a NoFollow tag. By signing Ebuzzing’s Code of Conduct bloggers agree to comply with this rule. Unfortunately there have been isolated incidents where a bloggers has failed to implement a NoFollow tag, in spite of the agreement in place. This document aims to help bloggers recognize the importance of NoFollow tag implementation. Linking is a very important part of search engine optimization strategy. Correct use of a NoFollow tag is crucial since failure to use a NoFollow tag when necessary can negatively affect search engine ranking.

What is a NoFollow tag? A NoFollow tag is a basic piece of HTML, typed as rel=”nofollow” and appended to a hyperlink. Adding a NoFollow tag to a link will make it a NoFollow link.

What role does a NoFollow tag play? NoFollow tags tell search engines to not acknowledge a page and instructs the search engine to not follow (i.e. crawl) any outgoing links on the page.

What does a NoFollow tag look like? For example, the following URL on another site’s page allows search engines to visit the Ebuzzing website and count it towards SEO ranking: <a href=” http://social.ebuzzing.co.uk/” title=”Social Ebuzzing”>Visit Ebuzzing Social </a> Here’s the same hyperlink, now including a NoFollow tag (highlighted in red): <a href=” http://social.ebuzzing.co.uk/” title=”Ebuzzing Social” rel=”nofollow”>Visit Ebuzzing Social </a>
