«Singfrauen Winterthur» like to experiment with new ways of interconnecting within the choir and with our audiences (we combine singing with movements and scenic images on stage). We sing in public places like parcs, a busy shopping street before Christmas or a swimming-pool. The idea is to transcend the boundary between stage and audience and so create a more intense musical experience for singers and listeners, embedded in everyday settings. Performing without the conductor requires each of the 40 singers to be wide awake and to take musical responsibility, as we move about freely in the audience and sing for the people we encounter there. I shall illustrate this experience with the Lazic Song “Hejamoli”.
