Elmira College is a four-year, private, co-educational, liberal arts college with an undergraduate enrollment of 1,376, 13-percent of whom were valedictorians or salutatorians of their high schools or prep schools. Our diverse population is represented by 35 states and 31 foreign countries. Our students are creative, strong academically, and engaged in a wide range of activities and endeavors. The College is located in Elmira, a city of 35,000, that is located in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York. The campus sits on 55 historic acres which includes seven classroom buildings, 12 dormitories, two administrative office buildings, library, computer lab facilities, health center, campus center, President’s Home, and Mark Twain Study. Eight college buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The average class size is 16, with a student to faculty ratio of 11:1. The College offers over thirty-five academic majors, including: education, business, psychology, biology, nursing, pre-medicine, prelaw, along with numerous study abroad and internship programs. The Soaring Eagles sponsor 11 varsity women’s teams in soccer, field hockey, volleyball, tennis, cross country, golf, basketball, cheerleading, ice hockey, lacrosse and softball. Men’s varsity teams compete in soccer, golf, basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, baseball, tennis, lacrosse and cross country.

MURRAY ATHLETIC CENTER The Murray Athletic Center, better known as the Domes, has been the home of Elmira College Men’s Ice Hockey for over 40 years, hosting home Soaring Eagles ice hockey games since 1973. In the summer of 2001, a major renovation project took place that included new locker rooms and new offices for the hockey programs, four new multi-purpose locker rooms and a new sports medicine area. These enhancements to the facility provide the Soaring Eagles with a state-of-the-art locker rooms, which include individual maple player stalls, a stick room with work bench area, stereo and entertainment center, video editing equipment, coaches offices and meeting area, an intercom system, and a dehumidification system. The Murray Athletic Center has been one of the premiere Division III hockey facilities in the country and these improvements demonstrate the College’s commitment to provide Elmira student-athletes with the necessary facilities to support the athletics programs at the College. The Soaring Eagles continue to have one of the highest home attendance averages in the country with frequent sell-out crowds. A truly unique facility that the Soaring Eagles are happy to call home, and a place where few opponents enjoy much success.

COACHING STAFF

INTERIM HEAD COACH TIM CROWLEY TIM CROWLEY took over the Elmira College Women’s Ice Hockey program as the Interim Head Coach in November of 2016. The 2016-17 academic year is also Crowley’s fifth as the Head Women’s Golf Coach at EC. Crowley joined the nationally-ranked women’s ice hockey program after serving as the Assistant Men’s Ice Hockey Coach since his arrival on campus prior to the 2012-13 season. His efforts on the men’s side helped the Purple and Gold win the 2013-14 ECAC West Championship, while 14 student-athletes were crowned All-ECAC West and one Soaring Eagle, Jarryd ten Vaanholt ’16, received ACHA All-America accolades. During the 2013-14 season, Crowley played a major role in leading the Elmira men to their 10th ECAC West title, the most of any member institution, past or present. His efforts working with the power-play unit paid off, as the Soaring Eagles ranked fourth in the nation in power-player production, scoring on 28-percent of their opportunities. Power-play success continued in 2014-15, as EC had two players finish among the top-20 in the nation in powerplay goals with Alexander Taulien ’17 and Jarryd ten Vaanholt ’16 ranking fourth and 18th, respectively. With a total of 12 goals, 23 assists, and a team-high 35 points that season, ten Vaanholt was crowned an American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Second-Team All-American, the 19th All-American in the storied history of Elmira men’s ice hockey. In 2015-16, Crowley helped guide the Purple and Gold on a run that could rival the best in the nation at the time. During an 8-2-0 stretch from November 14, 2015 to January 9, 2016, Elmira knocked off No. 11 Hobart College, No. 6 Amherst College, and No. 3 Babson College in consecutive home games. It marked the first time since the 2010-11 season that the Soaring Eagles had defeated three straight ranked opponents. The 10-game stretch ended with a victory over No.4/8 SUNY Geneseo, also at the Murray Athletic Center. During that span, EC’s only two losses came to nationally-ranked foes, the latter in overtime at No. 8 Trinity (CT). Additionally, Crowley helped Carter Shinkaruk ’16 finish the 2015-16 campaign ranked third in all of Division III in goals per game (0.79). A 2009 graduate of the College at Brockport, Crowley was a four-year member of the Golden Eagles men’s ice hockey team. He was a member a Brockport team that secured the first playoff victory in program history. An assistant captain during his final year, Crowley was named a SUNYAC All-Academic honoree. He also received the Bob Peterson Coaches Award, as well as Brockport’s Seventh Man Award. After graduation, Crowley spent threes seasons as the Assistant Men’s Ice Hockey Coach at SUNY Potsdam, where his teams twice qualified for the SUNYAC postseason tournament. He served as the primary recruiter for the program, and during his time with the Bears, three players earned All-SUNYAC recognition and three members were named to the All-Rookie Team.

ASSISTANT COACH JORDIN PARDOSKI JORDIN PARDOSKI joins the Elmira College women’s ice hockey staff as an assistant coach for 2016-17 academic year, her first season with the Soaring Eagles. Pardoski comes to Elmira after a brief stop at Colgate University as a volunteer assistant coach under former EC bench boss and alum, Greg Fargo ’06. During her time with the Raiders, Pardoski assisted with various aspects of player development, team travel, program outreach and on-campus recruiting. Prior to her time at Colgate, Pardoski was a four-year letter winner at NCAA Division I Penn State, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Pardoski captained the Nittany Lions in three of her four years with the program, serving as an assistant in 2013-14, before taking over co-captain responsibilities in her junior and senior seasons. In 143 career appearances, Pardoski logged 25 points on eight goals and 17 assists as a defender. She guided Penn State to the program’s first-ever College Hockey America (CHA) Tournament Semifinal appearance in 2014-15, after sweeping the tournament series with Lindenwood with a pair of 1-0 and 3-1 victories. The following season, Pardoski helped the Nittany Lions make a repeat appearance in the conference semifinals, before bowing out in a wild triple-overtime loss to Syracuse University in the longest game in CHA Tournament history. At the conclusion of the 2015-16 season, Pardoski was honored with a trio of academic awards, including Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, All-Big Ten Academic Team and All-CHA Academic Team accolades. Originally from Rochester Hills, Michigan, Pardoski also enjoyed an immensely successful junior playing career for the Detroit Honeybaked club team. During her five-year run with Honeybaked, Pardoski helped the team win 19U and 14U State Championships. She was also a four-time all-state lacrosse player during her secondary school days at Rochester High School (Mich.).

2016-17 SEASON PREVIEW One of Elmira College’s most decorated and celebrated programs returns to the ice for another year of collegiate competition, as the women’s ice hockey team has inspirations of returning to the national spotlight in pursuit of the program’s fourth NCAA national title. Elmira should be fairly optimistic of this lofty goal with the return of 19 skaters from last year’s team, one that captured an NCAA Third-Place trophy. Experience is Elmira’s greatest strength this season, which is a far cry from the 2015-16 edition of the Purple and Gold, a team that featured just eight upperclassmen. This year EC has a solid foundation of leadership from its senior and junior classes, which is paired nicely with a very talented sophomore class and a trio of first-year players. Elmira was in unfamiliar territory last season when it graduated a highly-decorated class of seniors that accounted for 63-percent of its scoring, but despite the lack of returning talent EC made a repeat appearance in the NCAA Div. III Tournament. This season, the Soaring Eagles welcome back their core group of impact players, which made up 80-percent of the team’s point scoring. EC has not enjoyed this much returning firepower since the 2011-12 season. There is an abundance of talent up and down the Elmira roster, but one area that might raise some questions from those around the country is the change in leadership within the coaching staff. In early September, four-year head coach and 2015 AHCA National Coach of the Year recipient Dean Jackson ‘03 resigned from his post as the bench boss for the Soaring Eagles. Jackson led Elmira to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a 2013 NCAA National Title. TOP RETURNERS JOHANNA EIDENSTEN ’17 (F) The Swedish national has been a staple of the program over the years and will once again serve in a leadership role in the upcoming campaign as one of Elmira’s three captains. Eidensten enters her senior season as the team’s most experienced skater with 87 career games under her belt. She has played in three NCAA Tournaments and is coming off a season in which she produced a career-high 10 goals, seven of those coming in the team’s final seven games of the 201516 season. A leader by example, look for Eidensten to continue to set the tone for the Soaring Eagles on-and-off the ice. LOUISA LIPPIATT DURNELL ’18 (F) Elmira’s strong international presence is bolstered by the return of last year’s top point scorer, East Sussex, England, native Durnell. There was no sophomore slump for Durnell last season, as she produced 28 points on seven goals and a team-leading 21 helpers. Nearly half of her points came in Elmira’s last eight contests, as she ended the season strong with 12 points on one goal and 11 assists. Look for Durnell to once again be a key creator up top for the Soaring Eagles. MADDIE EVANGELOUS ’19 (F) Don’t be fooled by this skater’s small stature - she touts a big game and has produced in the most crucial situations as a freshman. Standing at 5-foot-1, Evangelous might not look all that intimidating, Johanna Eidensten ’17 but what she lacks in height, she more than makes up for with her speed and scoring touch. A 2016 ECAC West All-Rookie Team honoree, Evangelous is back for her second stint with Elmira, following a 23-point rookie season that saw her log 13 goals and 10 assists. As good as she was during the regular season, Evangelous was even better during the playoffs, finishing with four points on three goals and one assist in the NCAA Tournament.

2016-17 SEASON PREVIEW MADDY JEROLMAN ’19 (F) Jerolman shined as a focal point in Elmira’s offense as a freshman, and now in her second year, the gritty two-way forward will once again be called upon to create and put goals on the scoreboard. She enjoyed an immensely successful rookie campaign with 24 points on 11 goals, including four game-winning tallies, and 13 assists. Most of her damage was done within conference play, as the Hamden, Connecticut, native amassed 17 points against ECAC West foes. KRISTIN CHIVERS ’19 (D) Last season, all the talk around Elmira hockey was the team’s infusion of talented forwards, with little mention of EC’s rookie blueliners. However, it did not take long for Chivers to make a name for herself in 2015-16, as the Antioch, Illinois, native produced four points in a 7-2 drubbing of nationally-ranked Norwich in Elmira’s second game of the year. The four-point performance was the start of what turned out to be a 25-point season for the rookie defender, which ascended Chivers into the national spotlight with year-end AHCA First-Team All-American honors. With the departure of two senior defensemen, look for Chivers to spearhead EC’s relatively young d-crops. KYLE NELSON ’17 (G) Elmira’s crew of goaltenders is as good as it has ever been, especially with the return of this fourth-year netminder. Nelson split time between the pipes last season but saw the lion’s share of minutes down the stretch, starting in Elmira’s final five contests, which included a quartet of playoff games. She went 10-2-1 a season ago, with four of her victories coming against nationally-ranked opponents, and sported a solid 1.75 goals-against average. Nelson will be vying for the starting gig, and could possibly be EC’s every-day starter come November 4th. KELCEY CRAWFORD ’18 (G) Crawford will also be competing for the starting goaltender spot and has a solid resume to make the argument to be EC’s go-to option between the pipes. She started in 16-of-17 games last season, going 13-3-0 with a 1.60 goals-against average. Crawford picked up a pair of wins over nationally-ranked opponents in 2015-16 and has logged substantial minutes since her rookie debut in 2014-15, which only strengthens Elmira’s depth at this pivotal position. KEY NEWCOMERS TIIA HERTTO ’20 (F) Hertto joins Elmira after a successful junior hockey career with the Chicago Fury. Standing at 5-feet-7-inches, Hertto bolsters Elmira’s already deep and skilled group of forwards. Kyle Nelson ’17 KIANA MELVIN ’20 (D) With the loss of a pair of ECAC West All-Conference defenders (Farole and Piku), Elmira needed to fill a void in its d-corps and did just that with the successful recruitment of Melvin. EC’s defense held opposing teams to 49 goals last season, while getting into the offensive mix with 75 points, 60 coming on assists. The addition of Melvin on Elmira’s back line adds another lethal scoring threat, who should pair nicely with several of EC’s other quick and feisty blueliners. JAMIE HUMPHREY ’20 (G) Although Elmira’s goaltending situation seems to be in good hands with Nelson and Crawford, do not discount this rookie netminder. Standing at 5-feet-7-inches, Humphrey is Elmira’s tallest goaltender since All-USCHO Third Team recipient Lisa Marshall ‘14. Her tall stature should serve her well down the road, as the Dewitt, Michigan, native will look to pick up valuable ice time in her freshman campaign.

2015-16 SEASON IN REVIEW

2015-16 SEASON IN REVIEW The 2015-16 Elmira College women’s ice hockey season began under the austere prospect of having to replace nearly two-thirds of its scoring offense from its national runner-up team of 2014-15. However, the beat continued to go on much as it has over the Soaring Eagles 15 years in existence as a NCAA Division III varsity program. EC enjoyed another fantastic season, finishing with a 23-5-1 overall record, which included the program’s third trip to the Final Four of the NCAA Division III Tournament over the last four seasons. Once again, Elmira faced one of the toughest sc-hedules in the nation in 2015-16, with 12 contests against ranked opponents during the year. The difficult tests started right out of the gate during the team’s season-opening weekend, when the Soaring Eagles traveled to Vermont for the East-West Hockey Classic, hosted by Norwich University. Entering the year as the second-ranked team in both major national polls, EC had heavy expectations when it faced a pair of ranked opponents to begin the season in then-sixth-ranked Adrian College and the then-fourth-ranked tournament host Cadets. With a large portion of its roster getting its first taste of collegiate action, the Purple and Gold took a humbling 4-1 loss to the upstart Bulldogs of Adrian on Halloween Night. The motivated Western power, which would go on to be a force throughout the season, jumped on the Soaring Eagles with two goals in each of the first two periods. Louisa Lippiatt Durnell ’18 found the back of the net with a shorthanded tally late in the third period, but it would not be enough. Resiliency was one of Elmira’s calling cards throughout the season and the team certainly showed its mettle the following afternoon when it looked to avoid a 0-2 start against the tournament-host Cadets. Playing in front of a hostile Norwich crowd, the Soaring Eagles pillaged the net for seven goals in a lopsided victory. Olivia Nystrom ’16 and Meghan Fonfara ’18 each netted a pair of goals, while rookie defender Kristin Chivers ’19 kicked off her fantastic debut season with four points on a goal and three assists to jump start the EC offense for the confidence-boosting win. The thumping of Norwich sparked the Soaring Eagles on a fantastic run through the majority of their schedule. EC’s win over the Cadets started a 16-game unbeaten streak in which the Purple and Gold went 15-0-1. The wins came in nearly every shape and fashion over the stretch, as Elmira marked blowouts and tight comeback wins, which included a 10-0-0 start in ECAC West play. The most impressive stretch of the unbeaten streak came when the Soaring Eagles posted a pair of victories in their second and final non-conference tournament of the season at the Panther-Cardinal Classic over Thanksgiving weekend. Elmira’s defense and goaltending was on-point, while the offense did just enough in a 3-1 victory over third-ranked Middlebury College and a 2-1 triumph over ninth-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College. The Purple and Gold played two more ranked non-conference opponents once the calendar turned to 2016. EC downed then-ninth-ranked Norwich in a rematch between the two programs at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena. The lone blemish of the 15-0-1 string came in the team’s next matchup against then-third-ranked Amherst College. The Soaring Eagles took leads of 1-0 and 2-1 during the contest, but each time the Lord Jeffs came back to tie. Elmira looked to have broken the tie with little more than three minutes remaining in regulation; however, an inadvertent whistle froze play just as EC pushed the loose puck over the goal line. The game would end in a 2-2 tie. The biggest series of the regular season wrapped up the month of January, as Elmira welcomed top-ranked Plattsburgh State for a twogame set at the MAC. With both teams entering the matchup with undefeated records within the ECAC West, the winner was set to gain the inside edge in the race for hosting both the conference tournament and potentially the NCAA Tournament. Unfortunately, the Cardinals swept both contests to deal the Soaring Eagles their first two losses within conference play. Although two defeats at the hands of a bitter rival would serve to linger with many teams, Elmira rebounded in a big way down the stretch run of the regular season. The Soaring Eagles outscored their opponents 31-to-6 over the final six games, securing two-game series sweeps over Buffalo State, William Smith College, and Oswego State. The six-game winning streak pushed Elmira’s record to 21-3-1 to complete the regular season, making EC the second seed in the ECAC West Conference Tournament. While Elmira posted an excellent record and a strong resume to back it up, it had its NCAA Tournament aspirations clouded by surprising 5-1 defeat at the hands of No. 9 Utica College in the semifinal round of the conference tournament. However, despite the loss, the Soaring Eagles secured a berth to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament, as their name was called for the eighth and final spot during the NCAA Tournament Selection Show. EC’s season came full circle in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament, as the team headed west for a rematch with Adrian College on the Bulldogs’ home ice. In front of a relentlessly hostile crowd, the Soaring Eagles picked up their most impressive win of the season with a 3-1 upset over the tournament’s second-seed. As was the case for most of the season, especially the crucial stretch run, Elmira’s youth continued to shine on the brightest of stages. Maddie Evangelous ’19 staked the visitors to an early 1-0 first period lead with a power-play goal, while Katie Granato ’19 put EC ahead for good with another tally on the advantage just 1:13 after the Bulldogs tied the game early in the third period. The Purple and Gold continued through the western half of the tournament bracket when it took the ice at Plattsburgh State’s Stafford Ice Arena for a semifinal matchup with the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. The Soaring Eagles took leads of 1-0 and 2-1 in the contest, but suddenly found themselves trailing by a goal when the Falcons scored shorthanded 1:31 into the third period. However, the freshmen continued to step up in the clutch moments. Evangelous netted her second of the game to level the score at 3-3 at 5:04 of the period. The score remained the same through the end of regulation.

2015-16 SEASON IN REVIEW Unfortunately, Elmira’s national championship dreams were dashed in heartbreaking fashion in the first overtime period. It initially appeared that the Soaring Eagles had stamped their tickets to the final, when Maddy Jerolman ’19 knocked in what would have been her second goal of the game. However, the referee immediately waved off the apparent goal, and just a few minutes later Wisconsin-River Falls pumped in a power-play game-winner off of a net-front scrum. Although the Soaring Eagles fell short of the ultimate prize, they still had third-place to play for when they clashed in a rematch with Middlebury. Jerolman put the Purple and Gold up just 14 seconds into the game with her second goal in NCAA Tournament competition. After the Panthers tied the game, Granato put Elmira up for good at 14:38 of the first period. Johanna Eidensten ’17 and Jessica Prance ’17 added insurance goals in the 4-1 victory to take home the NCAA Third-Place trophy for the third time in program history. Elmira’s stellar season was largely due to the success the team had in filling the opponent’s net, while also keeping its own goaltenders well insulated in the crease. The Soaring Eagles finished the year ranked eighth in scoring offense at 3.76 goals per game, while they ended the year 12th in scoring defense at 1.69 goals allowed per game. Both rankings were a testament to head coach Dean Jackson ’03, who implemented an entirely new system to maximize the considerable speed and skill of its young forwards and defenders. While it was the youth that shown down the stretch and sets Elmira up for a promising future, the Purple and Gold were also powered by three 2016 graduates who left a sparkling mark on the program over the course of their four years. Nystrom was a dynamic presence on EC’s top line throughout the season. The four-year starter had a breakout season in 2015-16, finishing with a career- and team-high 15 goals, which equaled her total from her first three seasons combined. She also added 12 assists, three of which came in the 4-1 victory over Middlebury to conclude the year. She finished with a career-best 27 points, which ranked as the second-highest total for the Soaring Eagles this season. Often times throughout the year the Soaring Eagles’ success was a reflection of Nystrom getting on the score sheet. She found the back of the net in 11 contests this season, each resulting in an Elmira victory. Nystrom was recognized by the conference office for the first time during her career at the conclusion of the regular season when she was named an All-ECAC West Second Team selection. Elmira’s other two graduating players come from the blue-line corps, as the Soaring Eagles will miss Phoebe Piku ’16 and McKenna Farole ’16 next season. Although Farole has always been a reliable defensive presence on the back end for EC, she added an offensive element to her game during her final collegiate season. Entering the year with nine career points, all on assists, she finished with 13 points on three goals and 10 helpers in 2015-16. While her first point of the year didn’t come until EC’s 14th game, she went on a torrid scoring run down the stretch. She netted her first collegiate goal as part of a career-best three-point performance against Neumann University on January 17th. The Irvine, CA, native added one more multi-point performance with a goal and an assist against William Smith on February 13th. No slouch in the defensive zone either, she ranked second on the team with 18 blocks on the year, while she finished as a plus-17 in terms of plus-minus rating. Farole was named an All-ECAC West Honorable Mention at the conclusion of the regular season. Piku has been a rock on the blue-line for EC since she debuted for the program in 2012-13. She had a fine conclusion to her stellar career, finishing with 12 points all coming on assists. The 12 helpers tied a career high for the Grosse Point, MI, native; however, it was her work in the defensive zone that will be missed most moving forward. She finished a career-best plus-minus rating of plus-19, while she also recorded a career-high 15 blocks, which ranked third on the team. While the loss of these graduating seniors is significant, Elmira’s future looks as bright as ever due to a talented core of underclassmen players that assumed big roles and did not shrink under the bright lights when the season reached its zenith. Leading the charge among the forwards was Louisa Lippiatt Durnell ’18 who broke out for a team-best 28 points on seven goals and 21 assists during her sophomore season. Lippiatt Durnell’s energy and determination was evident every time she hopped over the boards, while her versatility and strong two-way play allowed Jackson to utilize her in a variety of situations. She began the season with at least one point in seven consecutive games, while she recorded five assists in Elmira’s run through the NCAA Tournament. The East Sussex, England, native recorded six multi-point games on the year, which included a career-best three helpers in Elmira’s 4-3 overtime loss to WisconsinRiver Falls in the semifinal of the NCAA Tournament. Her 1.12 points per game average ranked 27th nationally, while her 0.84 assists per game average was 10th best in the country this season. Meghan Fonfara ’18 and Johanna Eidensten ’17 also posted solid campaigns and will continue to be key contributors moving forward. Fonfara finished the year with 15 points on 10 goals and five assists. She had the propensity to score in bunches, as she posted four multi-goal games, which included her first career hat-trick against SUNY Cortland on November 13th. A lethal threat on Elmira’s potent power play, she netted five of her 10 goals while EC was on the advantage. Eidensten donned the captain’s “C” for the Soaring Eagles in 2015-16 and was one of team’s most important players down the stretch. The Täby, Sweden, native also scored 15 points on the year, punching in nine goals and adding six helpers. She finished the year with points in seven of the Elmira’s final eight contests, which included a goal against both Adrian and Middlebury during the Soaring Eagles’ NCAA Tournament victories. While returning players played a big role in the team’s success, it was the EC freshman that powered the offense down the stretch. Maddie Evangelous ’19, Maddy Jerolman ’19, Katie Granato ’19, and Shannon Strawinski ’19 had excellent debut seasons and figure to play big roles moving forward. Pacing the group was the dynamic duo of Evangelous and Jerolman, who played on opposite wings of each other for the majority of the season. Both had scintillating stretch runs and were instrumental in the Soaring Eagles’ long playoff push. Evangelous finished the season with 23 points on 13 goals and 10 assists, ranking 12th nationally among freshman scorers with a 0.88 points per game average. She led the team and ranked in a tie for sixth in the nation with seven power-play goals during the year. The Hudson, MA, product had seven multi-point efforts, which included four multi-goal games. As was the case for most of Elmira’s Class of 2019 standouts, her play elevated when the contests mattered most. She registered points in seven of EC’s final nine contests, which included

2015-16 SEASON IN REVIEW a goal against Adrian and a huge two goal and one assist effort against Wisconsin-River Falls. She was one of two Soaring Eagle freshmen to be named to the ECAC West All-Rookie Team. Jerolman had an equally impressive rookie campaign, also finishing with 23 points on 11 goals and 12 assists. Her plus-23 was secondbest on the team this season. Showing a knack for netting the big goal, her four game-winners tied her with Granato for most on the squad and were tied for 17th-most in the nation. Like Evangelous, Jerolman also netted points in seven of her final nine games. She equaled a season-best with three points on a goal and two assists against Wisconsin-River Falls and also tickled the twine against Middlebury. Granato grew into her role as a strong two-way center as the season progressed. Her scoring touch picked up as the season continued, as she finished the year with points in nine of the team’s final 12 games. She finished the year with 19 points on 11 goals and eight helpers. Possessing slick hands and deceptive speed, she was an imposing force on both ends of Elmira’s special teams units. Granato netted four power-play tallies and one shorthanded marker, while four of her goals went for game-winners. Two of those four came in the most pivotal moments, as she scored the deciding goal in both NCAA Tournament wins over Adrian and Middlebury. Strawinski rounded out the core of EC’s freshman forward group. She finished the year with 13 points, scoring four goals and chipping in nine assists. The fleet footed winger tallied four multi-point efforts over the course of the year. Two other returning forwards, Anna Tude ’17 and Sarah Hughson ’18, posted double-digit points during the season. Tude finished with 12 points on three goals and nine assists, while Hughson collected 11 points on five goals and six helpers. The Elmira blue-line looks to be in excellent shape moving forward due to the emergence of one of the best offensive defenders in the nation in standout rookie Kristin Chivers ’19. The first-year defender was a fixture in every prominent media outlet’s postseason accolades. Chivers joined former four-time All-American and 2005 National Player of the Year, Laura Hurd ’05, as the only two players in program history to have received First-Team All-American honors from the AHCA during their respective rookie campaigns. Additionally, she was an All-ECAC West First Team and ECAC West All-Rookie Team selection, while she was also named All-East Region and a Second Team AllAmerican by D3hockey.com. Chivers finished her debut season with 25 points in 29 games played, collecting seven goals, 18 assists, and a plus-24 plus-minus rating on the year. She concluded the season ranked fourth among all defenders nationally in points. Her standing against her fellow classmates was equally impressive, as she ended the year tied for fifth among the nation’s rookies in points and first among freshman defenders. The sophomore trio of Rachel Grampp ’18, Kyra McDonald ’18, and Erin Kishoni ’18 delivered solid minutes during the year and will further solidify the core moving forward. While Chivers prolific offensive numbers garnered most of the attention, Grampp quietly had an excellent second season in Purple and Gold. She finished with eight points on three goals and five assists, while she led the team with 19 blocked shots. McDonald made the switch to the blue-line after starting her career as a forward. She chipped in eight helpers and 10 blocked shots in her first full season as a defender. Kishoni added five points on one goal and four assists, while she also blocked 15 shots. The Soaring Eagles goalie tandem of Kelcey Crawford ’18 and Kyle Nelson ’17 continued to split the minutes in the cage in 2015-16. Crawford got slightly more play during the regular season and posted strong statistical numbers. She went 13-3-0, posting a 1.60 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. The second-year netminder also had three shutouts; however, Jackson turned to Nelson after a tough showing against Utica in the semifinal of the ECAC West Tournament. Nelson was equally impressive, going 10-2-1 and posting a 1.75 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. Her best performance of the season came in the NCAA Quarterfinal matchup against Adrian. The Chicago, IL, product stopped 29 Bulldog shots and limited the nation’s second-best scoring offense to one goal. She also stopped 24-of-25 shots in the win over Middlebury.
