Going for Three Straight
A win over Clarkson today would give the Soaring Eagles their third win in a row. EC has put together a three game win streak in each of the last two years after not reaching that mark since 2007-08.
Starting Five
In Elmira’s win over Sage, EC’s staring five were responsible for 66 of the 67 points. At 98.5%, this is the highest percentage that Elmira’s starters have scored since November 18, 2011, when the starting five scored all 59 of the team’s points against Carnegie Mellon University.
16th in the Country
The Purple and Gold have allowed just 19.5 percent of opponent’s three pointers to fall, which ranks EC near the top of all NCAA Division III women’s basketball teams in that category. The Soaring Eagles lead the Empire 8 Conference in three-point defense and are 16th in the nation.
Record Watch
Zoltowski’s 28 points against Sage marks her second straight game with 28, and her third game this season with 25 points or more. She is averaging an impressive 20.8 points per game and has scored 1,186 points over her career. This puts her only 16 points away from moving into second place in career points in EC’s history.
Zoltowski’s 104 Points
Zoltowski has scored 104 points in the first five games of this season, which is the fewest number of games needed for the senior to reach the 100-point plateau in her career. This season also marks the first time an Elmira player has reached the 100 point mark in the first five games of the season in over 12 years.

Streaks on the Line
EC has a few winning streaks on the line today. A victory over Clarkson this afternoon would push Elmira’s win streak over the Golden Knights to eight. The Soaring Eagles also have a chance to pick up their fifth home win in a row, a streak that dates back to last season.
EC vs. Clarkson
The last time EC and Clarkson faced each other was November 30th of last season. Elmira pulled out the 62-46 win over the Golden Knights with Maria Thannhauser ’14 leading all players with 21 points.
Scouting Clarkson
Clarkson enters today’s game with a 4-2 record, winning four of their previous five games. Clarkson’s most recent victory came in their home opener over SUNY Potsdam. With the game tied at 55 apiece and only 37 seconds left on the clock, Stephanie Grobe ’17 drained a three-pointer and added a late free throw to seal the win for the Golden Knights. Cara Manfredi ’15 led Clarkson with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists in the victory.
Clarkson Players to Watch
Manfredi, Clarkson’s scoring leader, is also leading the Liberty League in scoring with 20.7 points per game. She also averages a league best 3.0 steals per game. Last season’s Liberty League Co-Rookie of the year Ashley Loggins ’16 is behind her in scoring with an average of 15.0 points per game while pulling down a team-high 9.2 rebounds a game.
Battle of Scorers
Today’s game features the top scorers of their respective conferences, Zoltowski (20.8 ppg) and Manfredi (20.7 ppg). 2
