Zoltowski Moves into Second Place
With 25 points in Elmira’s win over Clarkson University, Jessica Zoltowski ’14 took sole possession of second place on Elmira College’s all-time scoring list. With a career total of 1,211 points, Zoltowski becomes just the third player in EC history to score 1,200 points.
20th in the Country
Over six games, Zoltowski has averaged 21.5 points per game, placing her 20th among the nation’s leading scorers. She is the only player from the Empire 8 Conference to rank inside the Top 150 scorers in the nation. The next closest Empire 8 player is Hartwick’s Maria Foglia who is 168th in the nation.
Player of the Week Honors
Zoltowski has earned Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week honors as well as Corvias ECAC Division III Upstate Co-Player of the Week honors for her play last week. The ECAC award is her second of her career and her first since February 14, 2012.
Make that Ten in a Row
Elmira’s six point win over Clarkson extends EC’s win streak over the Golden Knights to 10 games. The streak stretches over 18 years, dating back to the 1995-96 season when Elmira began the 10-game run with a 69-63 win over Clarkson that year.
Efforts off the Bench
Elmira’s bench played a key role in their win over Clarkson. Carlene Fields ’16 and Alex Balara ’15 each added five points. Fields also assisted on a basket and had a block while Balara pulled down seven boards, made three assists, and had one steal. Breen Loney ’14 also contributed with four rebounds and one steal.

EC went 7-for-14 from beyond the arc against Clarkson. EC’s .500 shooting from the three point line is their best showing of the year and their highest percentage since the 2008-09 season when Elmira went 6-for-12 against Stevens Institute of Technology on February 20, 2009.
Finding a Way to Win
Elmira struggled from the free throw line against Clarkson, shooting just .500 from the charity stripe. However, the Soaring Eagles still found a way to pull out a six point win. The last time Elmira shot .500 or below in a game from the free throw line and still walked away with a win came in last season’s 56-52 win over St. John Fisher College on February 1, 2013.

Back-to-Back Career Highs for Loya
Meghan Loya ’16 grabbed eight rebounds in EC’s win over Sage, marking a career high for the second-year forward. Then in the following game against Clarkson, Loya pulled down nine boards, marking a new career high for the Connecticut native.
Zoltowski & Thannhauser With 10 or More
Maria Thannhauser ’14 and Zoltowski have scored 10 or more points in the same game four times this season. In each of those four games, Elmira has been victorious. Over their careers, the duo has posted 10 or more in the same game 29 times, winning 15 of those games.
Making the Comeback
Elmira trailed by as many as nine points in the second half against Clarkson but managed to pull out a six point victory. It is the most points Elmira has overcome in the second half and still won since last season’s 61-58 win over Alfred University in which the Soaring Eagles trailed by 10 points in the second half.
Zoltowski’s 104 Points
Zoltowski scored 104 points in the first five games of this season, which is the fewest number of games needed for the senior to reach the 100-point plateau in her career. This season also marks the first time an Elmira player has reached the 100 point mark in the first five games of the season in over 12 years.
Double-Digit Scoring Streak
Facebook www.facebook.com/ElmiraCollegeAthletics
Zoltowski has scored double-digits in each of the first six games of the 2013-14 season and dating back to last year, the senior has eclipsed the double-digit threshold in 13 straight games.
