Match Notes Last Time Out: The Elmira College women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Utica College in their most recent contest, which took place at the SUNY IT Tournament. Elmira was unable to salvage a win over the weekend as the Soaring Eagles took three, 3-1 losses to SUNY IT, Alfred State, and Utica. Welcome Home Ladies: Today’s Empire 8 Tri-Match marks the first home contest for the Soaring Eagles since the season opener back on September 2nd. Since 2001, Elmira has gone 19-14 in home games following road contests. Last season, Elmira went 3-1 in home contests following a road trip. Elmira vs. Hartwick: Elmira has been successful against the Hawks of Hartwick College as the Soaring Eagles enter Saturday’s matchup on an 11-match win streak, dating back to the 2008 season. Since 2001, Elmira has gone 19-1 against the Hawks. Elmira vs. Nazareth: The Soaring Eagles have not had much success over the years against the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College. Nazareth has won the previous four matches and owns a 16-3 record against Elmira since the 2001 season. Elmira’s last win against Nazareth occurred during the 2011 Empire 8 Crossover, which took place at Speidel Gymnasium in Elmira, NY. Looking Ahead: Following today’s Empire 8 Conference Tri-Match, the Soaring Eagles will continue their four-match homestand on Wednesday, October 8th when Elmira welcomes Alfred University to Speidel Gymnasium for a 7:00 p.m. match-up. Elmira enters Wednesday’s contest riding a 22-match win streak against the Saxons that dates back to the 2000 season.
