PRESS RELEASE
The ECC-Net Travel App, a must-have for your next city break! With memories of summer holidays beginning to fade, it’s time to start planning autumn city breaks. Before you go, download the ECC-Net: Travel App. Having the travel app equips you to assert your rights as a consumer before and during your trip. By the end of September 2015, the Cyprus European Consumer Centre (ECC) observed an increase by 38 % for the number of complaints related to travel compared to last year over the same period. ECC country's director says: “This year, we logged more complaints about air travel and luggage (64%↑), hotel bookings problems (14% ↑), car hire (0%). In order to help reverse this trend, we encourage the consumer to download the ECC-Net: Travel App that will provide him with useful information and be better protected while travelling." These are all situations in which the ECC-Net Travel App can be useful in helping consumers communicate with traders and solve potential problems straightaway. It will support you in almost any awkward situation that might arise when you're on a short break in another EU country, Iceland or Norway. You can consult the app to know what your rights are if your flight is cancelled, the car you rented is not what you asked for, your hotel room is not up to the standard you expected, or an item you purchased develops a fault. What’s more, it will tell you what to say in these situations in 25 European languages*. The app is free and works perfectly offline, so you do not need to be afraid of hefty mobile phone bills when you use it abroad. It can be downloaded from: • Google Play (Android) • Apple App Store (iOS) • Windows Phone Apps & Games Store (Microsoft) For further information about the ECC-Net: Travel App or trends in complaints to your local ECC, just contact your local ECC press officer (contact details below) *Bulgarian, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish.
