Dear CYAK donors,

My name is Josephine Daniels, and I grew up in the Norton Sound region, where CYAK ministry had a significant impact on my life throughout my youth. Today, I am honored to serve as a CYAK board member. Encouraging and developing young leaders is a cornerstone of CYAK’s mission. On behalf of Alaska’s youth, young adults, and the CYAK board, I want to sincerely thank you for your continued support of Covenant Youth of Alaska.

Alaska’s youth face incredible challenges due to isolation and geographic barriers. Rural Alaska villages are geographically remote, which significantly limits access to essential resources, including mental healthcare services. These barriers contribute to struggles with mental health, such as depression and anxiety, which often lead to unhealthy coping mechanisms like addiction and substance abuse. Alaska also has alarmingly high suicide rates.

Families in these regions often face economic hardship due to limited job opportunities, which impacts food security and the ability to meet basic needs, including utilities. These struggles with essential needs compound mental health challenges. Additionally, many individuals experience cycles of violence and abuse, perpetuating generational trauma.

In the midst of these challenges, Covenant Youth of Alaska has been faithfully serving for over 32 years, stepping into the lives of youth and young adults with care that addresses their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. CYAK’s programs teach the Gospel message, emphasizing Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, and the free gift of salvation God offers.

Shared throughout CYAK programs are personal testimonies of individuals’ walks with the Lord, including how they came to salvation, their personal transformation and healing, and the goodness of God. These testimonies are powerful because they share real experiences of God’s transformative work, break the stigma of sin and isolation, and normalize struggles with sin, all while affirming God’s faithfulness. Through these stories, youth and young adults are called and challenged to respond in faith, trusting Jesus as their Lord and Savior to receive forgiveness of

CYAK has been a beacon of hope, pointing to the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and providing essential outreach to those who feel lost and hopeless. I know this firsthand because I was one of those youth. I was on the receiving end of CYAK mentors who helped me stay on track and grow

Each year, through Bible Camp and other CYAK ministries, we see hundreds of kids who, like me, are blessed to be on the receiving end of CYAK’s care and guidance.

Again, Thank you for supporting God’s redemptive and restorative work in rural Alaska. Your partnership makes a profound difference in the lives of many.
