I want to personally thank you for investing in the incredible students at the David Eccles School of Business. Your generous suppor t has helped students pursue their dreams and careers that will shape the future. This year, we celebrate our 100th anniversary. As we look back with pride at a century of impact, we also are elated at the new oppor tunities we are offering our students. Your suppor t has helped spur the momentum of the school as we continue to expand. In Fall 2016, we celebrated the opening of Lassonde Studios, a unique living-learning space that allows young entrepreneurs to thrive. We are currently constructing the Rober t H. and Katharine B. Garff Executive Education Building, which will be the sixth business building at the University of Utah. In addition to continuing to grow our physical presence, we are also expanding our academic offerings. This semester, we welcome the first class of students to our new Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations major that focuses on business economics. In addition, we announced the creation of the Marriner S. Eccles Institute for Economics and Quantitative Analysis. The Institute will provide amazing oppor tunities for our students and bring some of the top minds in business economic thought to the David Eccles School of Business. This incredible progress wouldn’t be possible without your suppor t. On behalf of our world-class students, faculty and administrators, we are forever grateful. Taylor Randall Dean

Oppor tunity. That is what the Ruth Eleanor Bamberger and John Ernest Bamberger Memorial Foundation has provided to underrepresented students at the David Eccles School of Business for the past 45 years. In that time, the Bamberger Foundation has been instrumental in helping countless students attain their college education. More than 20 years ago, the David Eccles School of Business star ted the Oppor tunity Scholars program that helps first-generation students from underrepresented and economically challenged backgrounds earn their college degree. Each year, six Oppor tunity Scholars receive the Ruth Eleanor Bamberger and John Ernest Bamberger Memorial Scholarship. And that scholarship has life-changing impact on these students. Dennie Huynh, who graduated in 2012, is one of them. “Because of the Bamberger scholarship, I was able to learn worry-free, said Dennie, who is now a Credit and Risk Analyst at Goldman Sachs.

Annet Unda, another Bamberger Scholarship recipient, graduated in May of 2017, after which she was hired by Microsoft. “I got to focus on school, only work par t-time, and be more involved in campus activities with the extra time I had from not working as much.” These students are not alone. Oppor tunity Scholars has a remarkable 93 percent graduation rate, with more than 100 students per year par ticipating in the program. That’s par ticularly incredible when compared to the 50 percent graduation rate of low-income students at the University of Utah and a 21 percent rate nationally. This remarkable success wouldn’t be possible without the continued generosity of the Bamberger Foundation.
