DAVID ECCLES he annual Spencer Fox Eccles Convocation, now in its 26th year, launches the academic year at the David Eccles School of Business. It salutes Mr. Eccles (BS ‘56 Banking & Finance) for his decades of unparalleled commitment to his alma mater and his vital role in working with his aunt Emma Eccles Jones to establish a $15 million endowment to benefit the University’s business school. The last surviving child of David Eccles, Mrs. Jones’ landmark 1991 gift was recognized through the naming of the school in honor of her father — one of Utah’s most notable pioneering industrialists and a leading figure in the economic growth of Utah and the Pacific Northwest in the late 1800s.
