Minotti Presenting – The Home Anthology Collection The 2017 collection was coordinated, like those preceding it, by Rodolfo Dordoni, but also contained some products designed by Christophe Delcourt. Drawing upon expertise gained over the years, Minotti expanded its creativity in new directions, in a layering of influences and styles, while balancing the classic and the contemporary. To transform while still staying true to the Minotti style and traditions is an objective deeply embedded in the company’s corporate values. The collection’s design goes well beyond the brilliant execution of a technical exercise and masterful craftsmanship; if anything, it is the transformation of an intuitive idea into a tangible product, one that brings vitality and form to different lifestyles and ways of inhabiting the modern home, generating interiors that evoke an atmosphere of timeless elegance.

Jacques collection by Rodolfo Dordoni. This collection is made up of a variety of chairs, sofas and poufs all in compact proportions. The multiple seating elements allow them to thrive harmoniously in any setting – from home decor to hospitality – and to be easily paired with existing seating systems.
02
Caulfield coffee table by Rodolfo Dordoni. The minimalist design of the structure is achieved through the substraction of material. It is then interpreted in two very different metal finishes – polished light gold that, with its elegant sheen, introduces a sophisticated decorative note to any setting; or black-nickel, for a more formal, understated look.

Colette armchair by Rodolfo Dordoni. A new classic, this wired armchair takes its inspiration from the iconic period of mid-century elegance. Colette is an armchair which envisions strong hard lines and harmonises them with a gold or nickel finish, goose down padding and lush fabrics to match.
Pollock sofa by Rodolfo Dordoni. This sofa has subtle quilted motifs in the seat cushions. Coming in all of the Minotti fabric and leather options, Pollock is the quintessential sofa that will be classically modern for years to come.
Lawrence “Clan” by Rodolfo Dordoni. The versatility of the Lawrence modular seating system is seen in the variety of functional arrangements that can be created with the multiple forms. Modern texture and depth is created by geometric stitching design, which softens and adds to the casual vibe of this seating system. Idyllic in a Kiwi open plan home.

Fil Noir armchair by Christophe Delcourt design. This chair is an example of how to equally satisfy form and function - a quest achieved by the contrasting black-nickel metal base structure with gold accents on the legs and the encasing plush core cushion structure. This chair also comes in a dining-chair alternative.

Jacques by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti
Jacques The Jacques collection includes sofas, and ottomans available in several sizes, originating from a common design seed that transforms a loosely retro figure into a symbol of contemporary style. It has a refined aesthetic that is expressed in soft curved shapes, compressed proportions and details with striking visual impact, like the metal base with light bronze finish. All of the seating elements share the enveloping lines that offer a pleasant sensation of welcoming warmth, thanks to the soft cushioning in the seats and backrests.

Lawrence sofa by Rodolfo Dordoni for Minotti
Lawrence Lawrence is the quintessential expression of bespoke design, a seating system built upon a clustering of generous yet sleek shapes that describe distinctly horizontal lines. Lawrence embraces its bold, self-assured personality and adds to it an array of pieces that make it extremely versatile and allow for the creation of multi-functional compositions that bring understated elegance to settings that reflect different tastes. Lawrence comes in two versions, with either a high or low armrest. Each one correlates to a different design aesthetic. The high armrest is thinner than the low one which, in addition to being more substantial, is the perfect place to rest the cushion in order to lie comfortably on the sofa fulfilling a relaxed “Kiwi seating system while still maintaining its luxurious style.

Dune stools & table by Roderick Vos for Linteloo
Dune
“The shape of the wooden stool for Dutch brand Linteloo almost looks like a tractor seat, which has something old fashioned and genuine at the same time. I wanted to create something that sat between a saddle and a stool. A bar stool is a real artefact from our culture and people spend quite some time sitting in it. So why not make it comfortable? The stool and complementary wooden standing tables are completely made from oak wood. The Dune bar stool reminds me of something that could have been designed in the 50s; yet at the same time it looks fresh, modern and timeless. Roderick Vos

Ella series for Piet Boon Collection
Ella
All about shape – the renewed 2017 Piet Boon Collection displays the studio’s fascination with shape and the intuitive process of shaping design. Drawing inspiration from within, the studio chose to use the hand-shaped Klink side table (2012) as its muse for the new collection items as well as its overarching theme. By applying the Klink’s hand-shaped contour of its legs, the studio gives new form to dimensions and rids itself from behavioural rules. Boon’s choice of colour and tactility breathes new-life into the designs. This year’s presentation colour palette is made up of a subtle interplay of tonal green, blue, yellow, pink and grey tones in combination with brilliant metallic shades of pale silver, gold/silver mélange and copper. Illustrating the timeless, elegant and subdued signature of the Piet Boon brand and Studio Piet Boon philosophy, carefully balanced dimensions, rich natural materials and textures breathe life into this year’s collection. The protagonist of the series is clearly Ella, the new and alluring rounded sofa series - organically shaped and naturally lowered, to effortlessly create an intimate social space. The elements of the Ella armchair and sofa are connected by unique solid aluminium hand-shaped legs dipped in bronze, giving it its artisanal character.

The installation consisted of different areas which all had their own functional appearance reflecting their ideas around interior settings from residential to commercial. With hospitality in mind Moooi created an atmosphere of extraordinary attention and dedication and literally invited people to come closer to inspect their hotel, reception and home stages. Showing in Milan alongside Moooi’s new product lines was a collaboration with photographer Levon Biss. His Microsculpture series showed an incredible eye for detail and exceptional quality. This series of beautifully-lit, high magnification portraits captured the microscopic form of insects from the collections of the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. Moooi launched over 20 new designs and product extensions this year in Milan, where novelties by Maarten Baas, Joost van Bleiswijk, Luca Nichetto, Bertjan Pot, Frank Tjepkema, Rick Tegelaar, Edward van Vliet and Marcel Wanders were on show. Crafted from designers’ dreams, the new range of furniture and lighting designs raises the bar of sophistication and comfort to the next level. Inspired by a historical ship that dominated the Mediterranean waterways for centuries, the Canal chair by Luca Nichetto resembles the bow of a boat and displays striking compositions of matching or contrasting textiles.
Moooi Carpets completed the scene with the highly decorative patterns we have come to expect, many produced in broadloom to extend from wall to wall. This year Moooi Carpets invited renowned British textile designer Kit Miles and American artist Neal Peterson for the creation of a number of sensational new carpet designs. They were admired in their full glory, together with new signature broadloom and rug designs by Edward van Vliet, Marcel Wanders and Noortje van Eekelen.
The famous Broadloom collection and the Container table collided and the floral textile found itself dressing the table’s legs, creating an illusion between carpet and table.

Konstantin Grcic Since setting up his own practice, Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID), in Munich in 1991, he has developed furniture, products and lighting for some of the leading companies in the design field. Konstantin Grcic defines function in human terms, combining strict forms with considerable mental acuity and humour. Each of his products expresses a careful research into the history of design and architecture, and his passion for technology and materials. Known for his pared-down pieces, Grcic is often called a minimalist, but the designer himself prefers to speak of simplicity. Many of his products have received international design awards, such as the prestigious Compasso d`Oro for his ‘Mayday lamp’ (Flos) in 2001 and his ‘Myto chair’ (Plank) in 2011. Works by Konstantin Grcic are part of the permanent collections of the world’s most important design museums (including MoMA/New York and Centre Georges Pompidou/Paris).

Brut by Konstantin Grcic for Magis
Brut
“The starting point for this project was a specific manufacturing method: the production of cast iron, a material that combines great strength with a heavy weight. Cast iron performs well under compression, which is why it is used as a structural material for building bridges and, on a scale closer to furniture production, as a base for heavy machinery. It is this use of cast iron that has inspired the Brut collection. Its designs are reminiscent of the material’s typical industrial uses, and apply the communicative codes of that world to the realm of contemporary furniture; those of a solid, uncompromising material. The name Brut speaks of raw, untreated matter, but it equally calls to mind the lightness of sparkling wine. In addition to the tables and benches presented last year, the collection now expands to include a sofa with a cast iron frame and a fabric seat and back, a product that expresses refinement and elegance, qualities inherent to this project as a whole.” Konstantin Grcic

Huma designed by Mario Ruiz for Expormim
Huma
Discover the many faces of Huma – The inventor of the first swivel chair was Thomas Jefferson. Yes, the very same Thomas Jefferson who was the third President of the United States. The year was 1775. He took an English-style Windsor chair and connected its top and bottom by using a central iron spindle, enabling the seat to swivel on wheels similar to those of sash windows. If Jefferson did it with a wooden chair, why not give rattan a chance. And so Expormim did. They chose Huma, the distinctive shell-shaped armchair designed by Mario Ruiz, they imagined all the different possibilities. Could they add a rotary system, solid wooden legs or metal legs? It passed the exam with flying colours. Six different versions emerged from the primitive design, all of them capable of seamless integration in modern work environments, either at the office or at home. Huma thus unfolds its transformative potential and reveals itself as our most chameleonic piece to date.
