• The University of Bridgeport women’s gymnastics team has won the last six USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Team Championships. • UB men’s swimming team took fifth place and the UB women finished in eighth place at the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championship Meet; both the highest team finishes in program history for both squads. Bridgeport senior Oscar Pereiro won his fourth straight NCAA 100-yard Backstroke title this season • The Bridgeport women’s volleyball team won the school’s first-ever NCAA Division II East Regional Title in the fall of 2011 and hosted the NCAA East Regional for the first time in program history in the fall of 2013. • The UB men’s soccer team has made 11 consecutive conference tournament appearances. About Dowling
Founded in 1955 as part of Adelphi University’s Suffolk Campus, the college purchased the former W.K. Vanderbilt estate in Oakdale in 1962. In 1968 the college was renamed after its chief benefactor, Robert Dowling, a noted city planner and aviator. Situated on the banks of the Connetquot River on a former Vanderbilt estate, Dowling’s Rudolph Campus in Oakdale is among the nation’s most beautiful. The 105-acre Brookhaven Center is located on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley and features high-tech learning facilities for a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses. Located within walking distance to the Long Island Rail Road and featuring free parking and shuttle bus service, Dowling is easily accessible from both Suffolk and Nassau counties, as well as the five boroughs of New York City.

• Senior John Petrucelli of the men’s basketball team set a few new program records this year, including: single-game scoring (39 points versus Bridgeport on December 11, 2013), single-season scoring, and all-time scoring.He also led NCAA Division II in steals per game for the majority of the season, and ranked in the Top-5 for points per game in the country throughout the year. • Senior Kelly Guerriero of the women’s basketball team set a new single-season three-point record as she has drained 85 treys. She paced the ECC in that category. • The men’s indoor track and team won its second-straight East Coast Conference Championship on February 22, 2014. The Lions amassed a total of 138 points at the title meet. • Senior Dan Brown was named to the All-ECC Men’s Soccer First Team this past Fall. • For the Fall 2013 semester, 10 Lions earned a perfect and pristine 4.0 GPA to join the 4.0 GPA Club. The 10 student-athletes were: Alexa De La Torre (women’s soccer), Michael DioGuardi (cross country, track and field), Jessica Falcone (cheerleading), Nicholas Gonchar (baseball), Nicole Hein (cross country, track and field), Katie Jacques (women’s soccer), Keri Korwan (cheerleading), Ryan Lane (cheerleading), Lisa Nappi (equestrian) and Nicolette Sinagra (softball).

Did You Know? • Scott Muscat Won His 300th Career Game as Head Coach of the STAC Baseball Team on April 17, 2014 Versus Queens College. • The STAC Baseball Players and Coaches took part in their own community service day on April 25, 2014, as they teamed up the Rockland Boulders Baseball Team and the Town of Ramapo to clean and prepare their home field, Provident Bank Park for not only the remaining Spartan Baseball Games, but also the upcoming Boulders Season. • At the conclusion of his college baseball career, Senior Pitcher Joe Grimaldi will be entering the United States Marine Corps. About St. Thomas Aquinas The College’s 2,000 full and part time undergraduate students major in one of 31 programs offered in five division areas: The Humanitites; Business Administration; Social Sciences; Natrual Sciences & Mathematics; and Teacher Education. The College offers a full scholarship Honors Program which provides studens with a Summer Study experience at Oxford University in England. In addition there are several study abroud opportunities and strategic alliances designed to offer expanded opportunities for students. For example, students can major in mathematics at St. Thomas for three years and then enter a engineering program at either George Washington University or Manhattan College as part of a dual degree program. St. Thomas Aquinas College now fields 16 NCAA Division II sports, is an active member of the NCAA and supports 200 student-athletes.
