Did You Know?
• Daemen is making its eighth consecutive appearance in the ECC Championship tournament. The Wildcats have advanced to the semifinal round each of the last eight seasons. Daemen is seeking its first conference tournament title since joining the ECC.
• Daemen is looking to advance to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fourth time in the past five years.
• Daemen has posted at least 15 wins in each of the past 11 seasons (not counting the COVID-19 shortened 2020-21 season) and has reached the 20-win plateau eight times over that same stretch.
• Daemen leads the ECC in team defense, allowing just under 66 points per game.
• Redshirt senior Joey Atkins has become just the fifth player in program history to record 50 or more blocks in a season.
• Junior Andrew Mason has become the first Daemen player since the 2019-20 season to make 60 or more three-pointers in a season. He leads the ECC and ranks among the top five nationally in three-point field goal percentage.
Daemen University is a private, nonsectarian, co-educational, comprehensive college in Amherst, New York, chartered to award both undergraduate and graduate level degrees. The College of Staten Island is a four-year, senior college of The City University of New York providing exceptional opportunities to all of its students and offering undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as certificate and continuing education programs. Completed in 1994, the 204-acre campus of CSI is set on the largest physical New York City college site. Surrounded by a park-like landscape, the campus is centrally located on Staten Island. A rural oasis in an urban setting, the campus includes 300 classrooms, laboratories and instructional spaces, study lounges, department and program offices, and faculty offices, along with extensive athletic facilities and an acclaimed Center for the Arts. The College of Staten Island offers a number of selective academic programs, learning communities, and undergraduate research opportunities including the Macaulay Honors College of CUNY, the Verrazzano School and the Teacher Education Honors Academy at CSI. These and other competitive programs challenge highly motivated students to reach new academic heights. The College’s 2,000 full and part time undergraduate students major in one of 31 programs offered in five division areas: The Humanitites; Business Administration; Social Sciences; Natrual Sciences & Mathematics; and Teacher Education. The College offers a full scholarship Honors Program which provides studens with a Summer Study experience at Oxford University in England. In addition there are several study abroud opportunities and strategic alliances designed to offer expanded opportunities for students. For example, students can major in mathematics at St. Thomas for three years and then enter a engineering program at either George Washington University or Manhattan College as part of a dual degree program.
St. Thomas Aquinas College now fields 16 NCAA Division II sports, is an active member of the NCAA and supports 200 student-athletes. Men’s sports include: baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis and track & field (indoor and outdoor). Women’s sports include: basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, tennis and track & field (indoor and outdoor). The Spartans’ teams compete in more than 300 contests annually.
