Employment Licences for Students
H
How does it work? Students who are Third Country Nationals and have been granted a visa to study in Malta for longer than 90 days may apply for an employment licence. The licence allows them to work up to 20 hours per week if they are studying English for a minimum of 15 hours per week. How does it work? The process for applying for a study visa remains the same. Students may only apply for an employment licence after their study visa has been approved. To apply for an employment licence, the following steps must be taken:
1. The student finds a job and receives a job offer.
2. The employer and the student submit an application to Jobsplus,
stating the name of the employer and the title of the position
offered.
3. The student and employer wait for the employment licence to be
granted (approximately 4-6 weeks).
4. Once the employment licence is issued, the student can start
working if they have already been enrolled in school for 90 days.
