The Central Lakes Trail is a paved trail that spans Douglas County, connecting the cities of Osakis, Nelson, Alexandria, Garfield, Brandon, Evansville and Melby and on to Fergus Falls. The trailhead in Alexandria is at the north end of Broadway in Big Ole Central Park.

Spend a relaxing day at the beach. Douglas County has three lifeguard-staffed beaches on lakes L’Homme Dieu, Lake Osakis and Latoka. There are also public beaches not staffed by lifeguards, including City Park Beach on Lake Henry, Rotary Beach on Lake L’Homme Dieu, Chippewa County Park Beach on Lake Chippewa and Lake Carlos State Park Beach.
