ATION The community of Alexandria is gearing up and excited to be the host community for the 2010 Minnesota Senior Games, July 19 – 22. As the Minnesota Games State Coordinator, I would like to invite you to participate in this year’s games. The staff of Lakes Area Recreation is happy to be the hosts of this year’s games. With over 20 events offered and social functions planned, athletes are guaranteed to have a fantastic experience! It is my honor and pleasure to be your Minnesota Senior Games State Coordinator. GENERAL INFORMATION AGE Participants should register according to their age as of 12/31/10. The age groups are: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95-99
CONFIRMATION A confirmation e-mail will be sent to you after your entry is received. If you do not have an e-mail address, you will receive confirmation by a phone call. Allow a week for processing.
HOTEL INFORMATION – See Page 17 CHECK-IN TIMES & EVENT SCHEDULING Participants must check-in at the Minnesota Senior Games Headquarters at the Lakes Area Recreation Center at 720 Fillmore Street in Alexandria. A commemorative t-shirt, goodie bag, schedule, map and other important information will be provided at check-in. Participants should be at their event venue 15 minutes prior to the starting time, as listed on the schedule. Participants are allowed and encouraged to enter more than one event, but do so at their own risk as schedule changes cannot be made to accommodate sports that occur simultaneously. Please plan accordingly.
CANCELLATIONS / POSTPONEMENTS / REFUNDS In the event of inclement weather or unusual/extenuating circumstances, Senior Game Officials reserve the right to change the format of the competition, postpone events, or cancel. Refunds will only be given due to inclement weather. Refunds will only be granted if requested prior to June 30, 2010.
AWARDS
Medals will be presented to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in each age category at the event venue. The Minnesota Senior Games are “OPEN” to out-of-state residents. Competition must take place to determine and award winner. If there is only one individual entered in an age group, that athlete must enter and complete the event in order to receive a medal. That athlete will be placed in closest age category to compete with, but not against those athletes.
NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES The 2010 Minnesota Senior Games will be a qualifying year for the National Senior Games. The 2011 National Senior Games are scheduled to take place in Houston, Texas, June 16 – 30, 2011. REGISTRATION FEE includes athlete participation in unlimited sports, socials and a t-shirt. Fees also support a portion of the cost of conducting the games, including medals, supplies, venue fees, printing costs, etc. ADDITIONAL FEES: Racquetball is $5 per day (waived for Racquetball Plus members). Golf: $25 for 18 holes and cart at Tipsinah Mounds Golf Course. Tipsinah Golf Club Members do not pay for green fees but cart is on their own. Bowling is $9 per person/event. Celebration of Athletes Banquet, Wednesday, July 21 is $20 per ticket. These fees are necessary because of additional costs for these activities. These fees are payable with MN Senior Games entry fees.

USBA Rules govern tournament. Tournament format will be based upon the number of entries per age division. Players requesting doubles partners will be paired up where possible. Athletes may only compete with one partner per event. Division for Doubles and Mixed Doubles teams will be determined by the age of the youngest player as of December 31, 2010.
The next National Summer Games will be June 16th - 30th, 2011 in Houston, TX. Qualifying will take place at the 2010 State Qualifying Games.
