Festive sippers for your
holiday get-togethers
If you’re looking for some special libations for your holiday get-togethers this year, why not try one of these drinks. They’re a perfect addition for Thanksgiving or Christmas. There’s even a mocktail selection for those that prefer a non-alcoholic sipper.
CIDER MAPLE OLD FASHIONED
INGREDIENTS: 5 oz. bourbon 1 oz. pure maple syrup 1 oz. apple cider 4-6 dashes of orange bitters Cinnamon sticks to garnish INSTRUCTIONS: To a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add the bourbon, pure maple syrup, apple cider, and orange bitters. Shake to combine. Strain into two rocks glasses filled with ice and then garnish each with a cinnamon stick.
CHRISTMAS PUNCH
INGREDIENTS: 16 oz. cranberry juice 67 oz. ginger ale (2 liters) 2 oranges, sliced 2 plums, sliced 1/2 cup cranberries, fresh or frozen 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon 10 rosemary sprigs for garnish 1/3 cup granulated sugar for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS:
Slice oranges and plums into slices, saving some for garnish and some for adding to the punch.
In a large gallon container, add cranberry juice with 1/8 teaspoon of cinnamon and whisk until the cinnamon is fully combined.
Add ginger ale to cranberry and cinnamon juice and stir gently to combine. Do this right before serving so the fizz stays in the drink.
Add the sliced fruit to the punch, give it a quick stir.
Rim your glass with sugar, pour in the punch and add a sprig of rosemary for garnish and color. Garnish with any extra orange or plum slices.
SANTA CLAUS SMASH
INGREDIENTS: Ginger Honey Syrup 1/2 cup honey 1 inch fresh ginger, chopped 8 lemon zest strips 8 fresh mint leaves 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
The Santa Claus 1/2 cup pomegranate juice 2 oz. bourbon juice of 1/2 a lemon 1-2 oz. (2-4 tablespoons) ginger syrup Ginger beer or sparkling water, for topping INSTRUCTIONS: Ginger Honey Syrup
Bring 1/2 cup water, honey, ginger, and lemon to a boil over high heat, then simmer for 3-4 minutes and remove from the heat. Add mint, cover and steep 10 minutes. Strain out ginger and mint. Stir in vanilla.
Store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. The Santa Claus
In a cocktail shaker, combine pomegranate juice, bourbon, lemon juice and 2-4 tablespoons of the ginger syrup. Shake to combine.
Strain into ice filled glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with fresh mint and pomegranate arils, if desired.
