Welcome to eagle country

Get your cameras ready! Remer is known as the home of Bigfoot, and you don’t want to miss your chance to collect some questionable evidence of the big hairy legend.

While you’re at it, keep those cameras out for some excellent shots of the local wildlife — especially the bald eagles. Remer is located in the southeast corner of the Chippewa National Forest, a 650,000-acre forest that is home to the largest population of nesting bald eagles in the contiguous 48 states.

Watch the eagles soar overhead while you enjoy a plethora of opportunities for outdoor recreation around Remer. Surrounded by hundreds of lakes, streams, rivers and vast expanses of woodland, the area provides the perfect setting for year-round outdoor fun.

Go “squatching,” hiking, biking or riding on your off-highway vehicles. The Eagle Country ATV/Snowmobile club prides itself on having some of the best maintained trails in the state.

On Aug. 14, Remer celebrates its 74th annual Harvest Festival with one of the largest parades in the north country, music, food, games. This event is a hit every year.

A nod to Bigfoot

Remer celebrates its “home of Bigfoot” status with Bigfoot Days. Happening July 9-10, this community festival offers great family fun with a BBQ challenge, Bigfoot calling contest, town hall meetings with the Bigfoot Research Team, the She Squatchers, music, a 5K run/ walk, ATV ride, kids games and more.
