TEST YOURSELF AT THE NORTHWOODS TRIATHLON

On Aug. 14, the popular Northwoods Triathlon sends contestants into the waters of Lake Belle Taine, over 14 miles of scenic countryside aboard a bike and down the Heartland Trail on a 5K run.

Nevis is celebrated as the gateway to the Paul Bunyan Forest, where hikers, campers, snowmobilers and ATV riders enjoy more than 40,000 acres of woodland.

The Heartland Trail, especially popular with bicyclists, runs through Nevis. Located on State Hwy. 34 between Park Rapids and Walker, this quaint village is home to several restaurants, small shops, a grocery store and more.

A TASTE OF SMALL-TOWN MINNESOTA

Dorset is known for its annual Taste of Dorset festival, held the first Sunday in August. Folks walk the boardwalk while testing out all kinds of tasty cuisine from outdoor vendors.

The tiny town is a popular spot for bicyclers, who travel to Dorset via the Heartland Trail.
