Welcome to the combined term one and two 2011 course offering from Byron Community College. Byron Community College is a not for profit adult education college registered with the NSW Vocational Education and Training Accreditation Board to deliver nationally recognised qualifications (just like TAFE). Some vocational qualifications start in term one only, and run for the full year. Expressions of interest can always be taken if you are interested after the start date. We have our own classrooms conveniently located in the Byron Bay and Mullumbimby CBDs and use other venues throughout the shire. We offer a diverse, challenging and fun range of learning opportunities. The College is administered from its Mullumbimby Campus on the corner of Gordon and Burringbar Streets Mullumbimby. The Certificate in General Education is designed for people of any age who left school before achieving Year 10 and would like complete an equivalent qualification, prepare for study at a tertiary level or improve their employability skills. The emphasis in these Certificate classes is on supportive and individualised learning in a non-threatening environment. Students will improve their reading, writing, numeracy, oral communication and problem solving skills whilst achieving a nationally recognised Certificate in General Education, from an Introductory level to Certificate II (Year 10 equivalent) or Certificate III. Helping us grow Once there was a dog that lived in our office. It was a sausage dog, which is an awkward thing to watch going up and down stairs, like a tiny seesaw with a snout and tail. His name was Odie and he slept in the accounts department. He had his own ball, and would be alert to anyone willing to roll it. There was a squeaky toy for about a week, but squeaky toys and offices are always on a collision course.
