TELEVISION GUIDE Wednesday July 18, to Tuesday July 24, 2012 Highlights this week It’s a weekend of big budget films which manage to remain maverick: 1. Fantastic Mr. Fox (NBN, Saturday, 7.40pm) is a clever stop-motion animated film based on the Roald Dahl children’s novel. George Clooney is wonderful as the voice of the fox, whose charm and strength of will border on the psychopathic. Some critics felt it wasn’t as dark as the Dahl original but it makes good points about animal nature and environmental vandalism. Chickens are advised to go to bed early. 2. Team America: World Police (ONE HD, Sunday, 10.25pm) is brought to you by the mad gang who created the TV series South Park and is the best thing done with marionettes since the 60s Thunderbirds. It satirises big budget films and American politics and anything else the boys think of on the way. The marionettes, which fornicate in a most convincing way, were made by the Chiodo Brothers: www.chiodobros.com. This North Coast NSW television guide is brought to you by the team that produce these great publications:
