TELEVISION GUIDE Wednesday August 8, to Tuesday August 14, 2012 Highlights this week 1. Anne Ramsey plays the annoying mother in question in Throw Momma From the Train (ABC2, Saturday, 8.30pm), an entertaining comedy based on the plot in Hitchcock’s Strangers On A Train. Danny DeVito directs and plays the middle-aged bachelor who wants his mother offed and offers to kill the exwife of Billy Crystal’s character in an exchange deal. Naturally mayhem, but not much murder, ensues.

2. The delightfully silly martial artist Jackie Chan started his rise to fame in Hong Kong action films such as the 1978 Snake in the Eagle’s Shadow (One HD, Sunday, 10.30pm). It predates The Karate Kid in the story of Chan’s education and eventual triumph. Director Yuen Woo-ping went on to direct Drunken Master, another comedy which starred Chan. It brought to prominence the Zui Quan (‘drunken fist’) fighting style, which appears to imitate a drunkard’s movements.
