all over NSW will perform in it. Kingscliff High’s longtime dance teacher Robyn Ludeke said the girls have had to travel to Sydney regularly, initially for the audition and the subsequent rehearsals and performances. Tammy and Adrienne have also been studying for their Higher School Certificate (HSC), making
the task that much more arduous. ‘It is a huge commitment from the girls who are also in the North Coast item “Tribute to Beijing” with 110 other North Coast students,’ Ms Ludeke, who has been involved with the spectacular for 20 years, said. ‘The girls have all been involved in the Schools Spectacular before and all agree it is an inspiring experience.’

Tweed mayor Joan van Lieshout has snubbed a Parliament House invitation in order to attend next week’s council meeting where her vote is expected to be pivotal in deciding whether two more contentious residential developments in Hastings Point get the go-ahead. Cr van Lieshout has stunned some of her colleagues by defying a council resolution to attend an ‘historic’ meeting in Canberra on Tuesday to hear how councils can cash-in on the government’s $600 million infrastructure program. Instead, she has confirmed she will stay in Murwillumbah to decide the future of the two three-storey hybrid multi dwellings bordering Cudgera Creek ahead of the expected introduction of new planning controls which the council has put on the backburner. Her controversial decision puts her in the hot seat with both developers and a majority of residents vying for her allegiance to break what appears certain to be a three-all council deadlock over the developments. Cr van Lieshout sent mixed signals this week about her intentions, but told The Echo she intended to support the developers if their buildings conform to the council’s planning regulations and ‘do not pollute the creek’.
