Blue Moon TapHouse was born from the creative inspiration of bringing craftsmanship to life. The menu marries the art of cooking with the art of beer in an open kitchen. The Tavern features live music and authentic art by local artists. The TapHouse boasts 22,550 square footage and connects Waterside Drive to the Elizabeth River waterfront in the heart of downtown Norfolk, Virginia. Blue Moon TapHouse at Waterside District will feature three unique dining and entertainment experiences throughout the venue. The tavern area, with comfortable, booth-style seating, will feature a custom-designed circular bar serving a collection of carefully selected beer on tap, a stage for intimate, live music performances and an outdoor patio. From the tavern room, the venue flows into a dynamic, central area that opens up to a high, vaulted ceiling with a large skylight and a significant, exposed kitchen for one-of-a-kind dining experiences. The dining area of the venue, which opens up to beautiful, waterfront views along the Elizabeth River, will feature a large exterior patio for outdoor dining and second stage for live music.
A refreshingly creative twist on beer. At Blue Moon Brewing CompanyŽ something is always brewing - literally and figuratively. That’s because everything we do starts with creative inspiration. And that was true from the very beginning. In 1995, our head brewmaster Keith Villa, put a new-world twist on the old-world art of brewing and created a refreshingly unique take on the classic Belgian Wit beers he had grown to love while studying brewing in Brussels. By taking inspiration from the classic Belgian Wit recipe and then tweaking it with Valencia orange peel and adding a touch of coriander, Keith crafted a beer unlike any other. The result was Blue Moon Belgian White*. Beer drinkers really loved its subtle sweetness and citrusy flavor. Which just goes to show that life is a lot more interesting when something is brewing.
Y R O T S I H Born in a ballpark. We started brewing at the corner of 22nd & Blake in downtown Denver, Colorado, at the beginning of the ‘95 baseball season. We only call out baseball because our brewery is located in a baseball stadium. We were called The SandLot Brewery®, and we focused on brewing craft beer for the fans at games. By the middle of the season, our roster of beers was ready to start pouring. It included Slugger Stout, Rightfield Red, and a fan favorite called Bellyslide Wit.
What’s in a name? As the season went on we kept hearing the same thing from fans: “Give me a Bellyslide.” With an overwhelming fanfavorite we knew we had a special beer on our hands, but we needed a name that could live outside of the baseball stadium. So one day, when a bunch of us were tasting beers, our admin called out, “You know, a beer that tastes this good comes around only once in a blue moon.” And with that phrase ringing in our ears, the Blue Moon Brewing Company® was born, and Bellyslide became Blue Moon Belgian White*. Oranges, get ready.
