EcoArt Coastal Clean-up Waste Reduction and Sustainability Project Dear Sponsor During the last International Coastal Clean-up Day volunteers in Jamaica collected a record 160 628 pounds of garbage, including nearly 300 000 plastic water bottles, that were clogging our world renowned beaches and waterways. Clean beaches are not only important for our tourism industry but every Jamaican should take pride in having a clean environment. Appreciating and caring for the environment starts at a young age. I have started a free initiative for children ages 5- 12 that uses Visual Arts to educate on how to care for the environment and reduce plastic waste. The aim of the Eco-Art Coastal Clean-up Project is twofold. The first goal is to reduce plastic pollution along our coasts by conducting coastal clean-ups with the local communities on a regular basis and educating them on how to protect their environment in a fun and creative way. The second goal is to increase children’s awareness of our ecosystems and to develop sustainable solutions for reducing, reusing, recycling, and upcycling our plastic waste through art projects that make use of waste plastic found on the beach. I am seeking sponsorship to help pay for the proper supplies and tools to lead the coastal clean-ups and art workshop. There are four categories of sponsorship and all sponsors will be recognised for their contribution. Please see below for more details on my background, and the project and sponsorship opportunities. Preserving the beauty of Jamaica’s coastline is important for our economy, for our people, and for our youth. I hope you can help me bring this project to reality.
Kind regards, Lisa Lej

Project Summary Reusing our waste is a good way of reducing it. While the Eco Art Coastal Clean-up Project’s main objective is to clean our coastlines, we will also be recycling waste materials into fun and innovative pieces like jewellery and home and office décor. The rest of the waste that is not suitable for upcycling will be transported to the central recycling centre in Kingston. We will be tracking the amount of waste we use and send to recycling as a way of measuring our progress and our sponsors and website will be updated regularly on this progress. The art products that we produce from this coastal waste will be exhibited as part of an educational and entertaining way of promoting an ecofriendly lifestyle in various locations around the island. The Project will be run by a small staff of 1-3 people to coordinate activities and manage funds. Local and international volunteers will be provided with meals and accommodation in exchange for their time, and will also gain knowledge about the local environment. We also intend to recruit interns from the local secondary and post-secondary schools and provide them with a stipend to help with the project, which will provide them with work experience and references. The Project will focus on various tourist destinations in Jamaica, and will help with promoting Jamaican tourism, especially eco-tourism. In addition to promoting a clean environment we will also be promoting a healthy and loving lifestyle by including various physical activities such as: Yoga, Dance, Zumba among others. Sharing and caring is our way of life…
