The production of biomass wood pellets is divided into the following steps: wood material crushing, water moisture control, biomass pelletizing, wood pellet cooling, wood pellet weighing, and packing. The pelletizing process is the most critical in a wood pellet line.
As a general rule, raw materials should be smaller in size than pellets. A wood crusher is required for wood logs or round wood. The smaller wood blocks will then be fed into the wood chipper, which will chip the wood into chips for further use. If you want to make pellets with a size of 6mm or less, you will need a wood hammer mill to turn the wood chips into wood sawdust.
The water moisture of the raw material should be around 12% to make premium biomass wood pellets. As a result, excess water in the raw material must be removed. A wood pellet cooler is typically used in industrial pellet production. You can choose to dry the material in the sun or another method on a small scale.
Wood material enters the pelletizing room via a feeder, where the die and rollers move relatively quickly. The intermolecular forces in wood material molecules have changed as a result of the extrusion force and high temperature forming in the relative motion. Thus, the plasticity of wood materials has increased.
The pellets that come out of the pellet machine are hot and wet. A pellet cooler is used to lower the temperature and water content. They are harder and easier to store or transport after cooling.
A wood pellet packing machine can pack the pellets in plastic bags of the same weight for transport or sale. Bulk trucks are required for large amounts of wood pellets. Bulk pellets are loaded directly from the pellet mill into trucks for delivery to bulk storage containers.
The bulk trucks are more expensive than regular flatbed trucks, but they provide a much more efficient processing system.
