THE WAY GOD WANTS US TO BE BY

THE WAY GOD WANTS US TO BE BY
Fruit grows on plants and trees but did you know the Bible talks about the Fruits of the Spirit. Unlike an apple or banana, these special fruits grow inside of you and me.
How can that be possible? I will tell you how.
The Spirit is the Holy Spirit.
He is God and we need Him.
We often talk of the Holy Spirit, especially during the Feast of Pentecost. He teaches us how to be good and righteous just like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In the book of Galatians
Chapter 5, verses 22 to 23 it states…..“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. These fruits teach us the way God wants us to be.
In this world there is sin. You will see people, young and old, do or say bad things. God does not like this. We have to be different from the bad people in this world. We have to be like Christ if we want to be saved and go to heaven. That is where the fruits of the Spirit come in.
Jesus Christ shows love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness and temperance. He is the best example we have on how to be.
Why does the Bible use the word fruit in this way? God often uses things we see on the earth to help us to better understand what is written in the Bible.
Now I want you imagine yourself as a tree planted in good soil. The rains falls down. The sun shines in the sky. Over time, you grow. Your roots grow stronger and deeper in the ground. Soon a trunk grows and then branches. Next leaves and finally fruit!
The fruit determines what type of tree you are.
If your fruits are ripe and healthy this means you are a good tree. If your fruits are rotten and spoiled that means you are a bad tree.
So what type of tree do you want to be and what type of fruit do want to have? You’ve got it. You want to be a good tree with good fruit. Each week we will learn about a fruit of the Spirit to help us to be the way God wants us to be, righteous and obedient children. Amen.
