The bible is the book of the Lord. The bible is the word of God.
It teaches us about God. It teaches us how to obey God. It teaches us how to be good.
We must all read the bible. It is a big book with lots of pages and words. It doesn’t have pictures in it. It is very different than the other books you read and your mom reads to you.
It is the most special and important book in the world! It is holy. Do not play with the bible or color in it!
When you begin to learn to read and recognize words and names you can also begin to read the bible.
Some of us have names like the people in the bible.
Auntie Deborah’s name is like a lady in the bible, and Matthew and Andrew have names of people in the bible.
The bible has many exciting and interesting stories in it.
One story is how God created the earth in six days.
Another
story is about Noah and the ark.
It
teaches us how to be good so that God will save us from bad things and take us to his heavenly kingdom.
The bible is made up
of
many books and chapters. The chapters are divided into verses. Let’s touch the bible and hold it
It’s heavy. Be careful with it. Let’s look at some of the words in the bible. Do you know what some of the words are?
Let’s look at some of the names in the bible. You can hold the bible when you have worship.
The first verse in the bible is Genesis 1:1,
“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
The very last verse in the bible is Revelations 2:21, “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.”
The bible was written by holy men. They did not just write whatever they wanted to write. God told them what to write.
The first part of the bible is called the Old Testament. It includes the history starting with how God created the world. It tells us the things that the first or ancient men did. These holy men are our ancient fathers.
The bible is divided into two main parts.
The Old Testament also includes the books of the law.
The first four books of the bible were written by Moses.
The first father was Adam. He was the father of all the earth.
The history in the Old Testament teaches us very interesting and exciting stories about the people in the bible.
All of these stories are a lesson for us to teach us how to obey God.
The Old Testament also has the book of Psalms which are beautiful holy songs that king David wrote.
King Solomon also wrote books in the old testament. Many prophets also wrote books.
The other main part of the bible is the New Testament. The New Testament tells us about the life of Jesus Christ, how he was born on earth.
It tells us the things that he taught us. It was written by some of the disciples of Christ. Their books also teach us how to live a righteous life like Jesus and to have faith and be obedient to God.
Did you know that there is a part of the Old Testament that is not included in all the bibles? It is called the Apocrypha. It teaches us history, as well as very interesting stories about the people in ancient days.
Did you know that the bible was burnt and completely destroyed many years ago by wicked people?
Esdras the prophet asked the Lord to send him the Holy Spirit so that he could write the bible again for the people that would be born later so that we could learn about God and be saved.
God answered his prayer and he wrote the books again that had been destroyed.
