About PaTiE Adult educators are playing a vital role in making lifelong learning a reality, as they support and encourage learners to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes. The professional development of educators is essential for the quality of adult learning. The Education and Training 2010 Work Programme is mentioning that the professional development and the improvement of the quality of teachers and trainers have been recognized as a priority at European level and continues to pose a real challenge in most countries. The project aims to develop an educational seminar for adult trainers in psychodrama as an educational tool. The psychodrama in organizing and supervising groups concerns the education on active techniques for coordinating teams. The psychodrama as a empowerment and encouragement technique could be applied in various content groups. The use of psychodrama in adult education, and particular in vocational training, is not widespread. The Polish partners, "Theatre Grodzki" and "EST" apply the use of psychodrama in their adult educational seminars. "Theatre Grodzki" was coordinatorof the Grundtvig Multilateral project POTENS, and "EST" was partner in this project as well. POTENS focused on developing new training methodology which combines psychodrama

and adult education. Aim of current project PaTiE is to transfer the innovation that the Polish partners carried out and apply in their educational seminars through the POTENS project, and to adjust the use of psychodrama in adult education in consortium participating countries.>Ιn Greece, Italy and Spain few research data exist to referred in psychodrama as educational tool for adult education and training. Main objective of project PaTiE is to contribute to research on psychodrama as learning technique; by transferring, adapting and applying psychodrama in adult educational processes. Psychodrama in adult education could be applied as a tool for organization, empowerment and encouragement of trainees group in educational environments. Project PaTiE will provide an innovative, internationally competitive training program specialized for the adult educators in VET, based on international experiences. The project involves 6 project partners from 4 different countries who have considerable experience in development of training materials, and therefore are qualified to add useful information and data on developing and testing the competitive training curriculum. All the partners will take part in developing the curriculum and be responsible for WPs and activities suited to their previous experiences. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

Dr. Jacob Psychodrama as Levy Moreno: teaching tool in Adult Education. the founder of Psychodrama

Dr. Jacob (Jakob) Levy Moreno (18 May 1889 - 14 May 1974) was a leading psychiatrist, theorist and educator. During his lifetime Dr. Moreno was recognized at Harvard University as one of the greatest social scientists

Psychodrama is a method of teamwork developed by Jacob L. Moreno, with a view to exploring issues related to the problems of people, their issues and concerns, as well their dreams and aspirations. The techniques of psychodrama actions allow people to experience and explore the facts of life from the past, present and future, but also to gain different aspects and a broader perspective . One can see himself as an external observer, to try new roles safely and move towards to change and personal growth. The basic function of psychodrama is to increase spontaneity and creativity with an adequate and functional manner. A system, whether thatis an internalsystemof people, eitheran organizationalsystem, can becreativethrough the growthof spontaneity. The J.L. Moreno says that spontaneity gives impetus to the individual to

in the world. Dr. Moreno grew up in Vienna at time of great intellectual creativity and political turmoil. The founder of Psychodrama, Sociometry and the foremost pioneer of Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama developed from Moreno’s interest in philosophy, mysticism and theatre, and his observations of group interactions and relationships. Moreno was among the first to recognize the healing power of a group, including the importance of self‐help groups, where each person becomes the healing agent of the other without any special training or knowledge other than his or her own experience. Moreno studied medicine, mathematics, and philosophy at the University of Vienna, becoming an M.D. in 1917. He had rejected Freudian theory while still a medical student, and became interested in the potential of group settings for therapeutic practice. Moving to the U.S. in 1925, Dr. Moreno began working in New York City. He later held positions at Columbia University and the New School for Social Research. In 1932, Dr. Moreno first introduced group psychotherapy to the American Psychiatric Association. For the next 40 years he developed and introduced his Theory of Interpersonal Relations and tools for social sciences he called 'sociodrama', 'psychodrama', 'sociometry', and 'sociatry'. In his monograph entitled, "The Future of Man's World", he describes how he developed these sciences to counteract "the economic materialism of Marx, the psychological materialism of Freud, and the technological materialism" of our modern industrial age. His autobiography describes his position as "threefold:

respond appropriately to new situations or to have a new reaction to the old and tiresome problems and concerns. The techniques of psychodrama - such as role playing, the role assumption and reversal, distancing, mirroring, enlargement, improvisation, sharing, etc. - enrich the education for verbal and nonverbal communication, facilitate thinking and understanding of relationships and promote the better integration of people in their groups. Therefore , psychodrama can be used in groups of Adults Education as an educational tool for organizing, coordinating and supervising groups of learners.

PaTiE Kick off meeting

Τhe first transnational meeting of PATiE project, held in Rethymnon, at the European Center for Employment Training premises, from 21st to 22nd of October 2013. The meetng referred to the European project “To psychodrama as an educational tool in Education". The project is implemented under the sectoral programme Leonardo da Vinci (LdV), Action Multilateral Projects Transfer of Innovation of the European Lifelong Learning (Lifelong Learning) and funded by the European Commission. During the two years that the project will last consortium will investigate the status quo regarding training structures in various EU countries and develop a highly innovative, internationally competitive modularized training curriculum in experiential learning and psychodrama, with qualification standards specialized for educators in CVET. Aim of the project is to improve the efficiency and adequacy of existing training practices in the field and to promote training for adult educators in psychodrama. In this way, project will support adult educators to acquire the necessary skills needed to apply the method of psychodrama in their didactic practice, through the development of a training program based on their actual educational needs.

Spontaneity and creativity are the propelling forces in human progress, beyond and independent of libido and socioeconomic motives [that] are frequently interwoven with spontaneity-creativity, but [this proposition] does deny that spontaneity and creativity are merely a function and derivative of libido or socioeconomic motives. Love and mutual sharing are powerful, indispensable working principles in group life. Therefore, it is imperative that we have faith in our fellow man’s intentions, a faith which transcends mere obedience arising from physical or legalistic coercion. That a super dynamic community based on these principles can be brought to realization through new techniques..." Moreno died in New York City in 1974, aged 84. He chose to die by abstaining from all food and water after a long illness. His epitaph, at his request, reads "the man who brought laughter to psychiatry."

Foreseen project results: The PaTiE project contributes to the development of the further training of VET adult educators, and the development of the VET as it will provide new teaching methods in adult education field. The project addresses the constantly changing educational aspects of VET through its emphasis on lifelong learning. It will provide an innovative, internationally competitive training program specialized for the adult educators, based on international experiences. The training program will support the development and recognition of trainers knowledge, skills and competencies, subjects that are crucial for the development of individuals, educational sector and social cohesion. By starting a social dialogue, it aims to establish stronger ties between educational systems, communities and psychodrama experts. Although the use of experiential learning techniques in adult VET has considerable importance throughout Europe, this has not been recognized in any EU strategies for the sector. This project will make original contributions to the qualification framework agenda, the development of lifelong learning for VET adult educators and the transparency and transferability of skills in the sector. The PaTiE training program will be flexible enough to correspond to the changing demand at the national or regional levels, therefore it could be redeveloped according to the needs of an individual country or region.
