PSYCHODRAMA: AN ACTION PERCEPTION OF LIFE The whole world is a stage All men and women are mere actors They have their entrances and their exits And everyone in his time plays many roles Shakespeare

Antonis Liodakis Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist Director K.PS.Y. Rethymnon HISTORICAL DATA The psychodrama is a group psychotherapeutic method. Its roots are in ancient Greek drama. The Hospice of ancient Greece, theatre particularly in the form of drama, music, relaxation techniques and group discussions were the main components of treatment. The drama was prominent in the treatment because it embodied the problems of man in the society and the need to identify with fictional heroes. Ancient cultures attributed to the art a primary importance. Through art man could be expressed fully and 'clean' negative emotions, but also to participate actively in social life. The modern man slowly estranged from his art for himself, isolated in front of a TV screen, resulting in alienation, passivity and aggression. Το ψυχόδραμα και η εξελικτική του πορεία απαντά σ’ αυτή την παθητικότητα του σήμερα και προσδίδει στον σημερινό άνθρωπο ρόλο πρωταγωνιστή ζωής. Psychodrama and the evolutionary path, responds to this passivity of today and gives a starring role to man lives. The psychiatrist Jacob Moreno, based on the human need for action and expression, initially created the theater of spontaneity, bringing together young and old in parks in Vienna, shortly before the First World War. In 1921 he directs amateur performances where not professional actors were acting, no specific scenario or even theatrical stage. In 1922, creates the "Makeshift Theatre" where viewers can at any time go up on stage and intervene in the matter on the basis of their own intentions. The importance of the theatrical presentation of human experience, helps their awareness. This finding Moreno's is the basis of psychodrama method along with the concepts of spontaneity and creativity. The integrated system of healing in the sense of psychodrama, developed in America where it was found by Moreno. In a society where the dominant elements are the machines and their derivatives, psychodrama suggests naturalness through which the person manifests and expressed Psychodrama TODAY The psychodrama today has many applications. In psychotherapy has very good results. Refers to groups involving people with psychosocial difficulties with addiction issues, and people of arts, education, business for everyone eventually seeking a deeper communication with oneself and others. The Moreno himself psychodrama has many different definitions. The featured as a 'new theology' as 'drama' with aesthetic ideals as 'political system' with social values, as 'science' with social aspirations, a 'method of psychotherapy' and 'philosophy of life'.

The Kellerman later proposed the following definition of psychodrama: It is a method of psychotherapy where participants are encouraged to continue their actions through dramatization, role playing and dramatized self-introduction, using verbal and non-verbal communication. The unconsciously structured problems and formation of personality, arising during childhood revealed on stage through playing (dramatizing) present conflicts. The psychodrama is related to the theater, but not theater. The theater people are seeking similarities of psychodrama with the Stanislavski method, but there are not any. In psychodrama, the protagonist is called to be on stage himself with the aim of realization of his personal role he plays in everyday life. Moreno himself thoroughly studying the ancient Greek drama, refers to the active person that connects and identifies his problems with those of the “city”. He foresaw, that through action and acting (this is the way the word “drama” must me conceived), expressed deeper and multidimensional way 'truths of the soul', with its tragic and the comic side. The psychodrama practice as opposed to other forms of treatment which support the analysis of personality narrative presentation of problems and conflicts, has chosen the everyday life as the framework of realization of therapeutic and self-awareness goals. CONCLUSIONS In conclusion, we would say that psychodrama is a revival of daily action on stage, of the person who allows him to know better himself, his inhibitions, his weaknesses and then to act within the group and daily life, liberating himself. The psychodrama is a therapeutic proposal by Jacob Moreno started in the 30s. The main idea of psychodrama is the use of spontaneous dramatic play as a healing technique and a mean of personal fulfilment. The psychodrama is a group practice that puts players on stage as instructed by the directortherapist and in front of an audience. The axes based are: The catharsis (authentic feelings and emotions), spontaneity as a source of creativity, and its role as a means of expression and realization of the ego. In practice, the form unfolds in three phases: Warm up the team, dramatic play and the public's reactions. The psychodrama is a mean for participants to explore different roles that can be themselves, to express and to play a role that in everyday life is repressed, to discover new roles and forms relationships. The aim is a person to be released from attitudes and stereotypes. Too often we think of something, we say something else, we feel another and we do something different. Psychodrama helps to integrate our words, our thoughts and our feelings in our actions. Psychodrama is a treatment action that removes the individual from the passivity of the story, activates and brings him in front to face real life experiences. Because real life experiences are those that cultivate, educate and finally cure.

ALECOP - Spain National workshop Last September 10th , ALECOP carried out the National Dissemination Workshop of Patie project in its offices in Mondragon. Despite being very critical dates in the educational and training sector for being the kick-off week of the new school-year, nine representatives from Vocational Training institutions, universities and international companies providing training and educational solutions were able to attend the workshop that lasted from 9.30 to 11.30 in the morning. The workshop was lead by Mr. Carlos Ramirez, the psychodrama and group psychotherapy specialist that has been the expert collaborator on Patie project in the last two year, being involved in the creation of the training material and the implementation of the pilot course sessions. The workshop started with a short discussion on the Patie project which was followed by a Warm Up activity with the aim that the participants would experience themselves a psychodramatic exercise. The exercise consisted on taking the letters of the PATIE acronym and to write down as many words as they could think of around education and the challenges that education faces nowadays. The exercise concluded with the participants making a reflection on how they had felt during the exercise and what evocations they had had during the exercise. This sharing was followed by a short introduction on the Patie project (the Lifelong Learning program, the partners, the phases of the project, the outcomes) which led to a more extensive presentation on the process, challenges, results and final impact of the project explained by Mr. Carlos Ramirez.

The session was closed by another psychodramatic exercise based on sharing, where every participant had to say a word on how they feel about the workshop and the project, which resulted in very positive feedback and several participants showing their interest to participate in new upcoming Patie courses. ALECOP is already planning new informative sessions similar to this National Workshop in order to allow other interested entities that were not able to attend the workshop to participate in sessions about the project and open the door to new replications of the course.
