Certifications: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) Major Projects Sound to Sea: Throughout the past year and a half I have been developing an educational game in Java for my assistanceship with ECU. Provided with an initial idea I designed the rules of the game, the underlying structure, and the GUI interface to create a fully functional game. Helper applications are provided for non-technical users to make updates. I have created a solid object oriented design with appropriate javadoc comments to make future additions easy for the next student who works on this project. Imagine Cup: Sponsored by Microsoft the goal is to design an application tailored to the pocket PC using Visual Studio.NET. I developed the concept for our product and was team leader of my group. Product functionality included data gathering from the web and stored sales data in a database. We received first place at our school allowing us a spot at the next level of competition. Senior Design Project: Our team worked with the NCSU Aquatic Ecology department to develop a comprehensive database with web interfaces using Visual Studio.NET, ASP.NET, and Chart FX. We enhanced our skills working with real customers, holding efficient meetings, and giving presentations. Professional Experience Java/VB Programmer, ECU Computer Science: Worked for professors on long term programming projects in Visual Studio & Java and tutored undergraduate students in computer science. 20 hrs/week (fall/spring semesters), 40 hrs/week (summers). (’03 –’05) Network Engineer Co-op, Cisco Systems: Configured and designed networks using Cisco’s latest routers and switches and worked directly with lead engineers to construct demos for enterprise scale clients. (’02 –’03) VB Programmer, First American Real Estate Solutions: Designed programs in Visual Basic 6 for use with Microsoft Access database files to automate procedures. Collaborated with other team members to decipher document codes and interpret maps. (’01) IT Technician, NC State ResNet: Position involved customer service, hardware and software troubleshooting for networking related problems, and hardware installations. On-site assistance in dorm rooms and phone support provided. (’99 – ’01) IT Technician, Xtrasource: Repaired IBM compatible PCs, resolved NT network issues, and provided customer service. (Summer ’00) Entrepreneur: Throughout high school I was already taking advantage of my passion for computers by marketing my talents to local businesses. I offered a variety of services included tutoring, web page design, and programming for private individuals, the local computer shop and, small businesses in my home town including Maggie Valley town hall (‘95 – ’99) Education: East Carolina University: M.S. Computer Science (May 2005), Current GPA: 3.625 North Carolina State University: B.S. Computer Science (May 2003), Minor: Business, Cum Laude
