WAYFINDING The Wayfinding follows the strict colour scheme set by the identity. Using the typeface used through out. It is designed to make visitors trips more efficient and as a result easier through colour, maps and icons. The environment, in which they will be seen, will vary from the street to buildings. The Wayfinding also highlights areas of interest as well as directing people to them.

Dear Sue
After several years flying under the public's collective radar, an opposition is beginning to coalesce in response to the New York Public Library's proposed Central Library Plan. For the unitiated, this plan calls for a transformation of the NYPL's main research library at a projected cost of some $350 million. The purpose is to consolidate the Mid-Manhattan lending library (now on 40th and Fifth) and the Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL, now on 34th and Madison) within the walls of the main research library. Space for the two reconstituted libraries within the main building will be created by dismantling a large proportion of the stacks within the building, and moving the books held there to offsite storage. Norman Foster has been hired to carry out the plan. The library has offered numerous arguments for this overhaul: Consolidation will reduce overall operating costs and thus free up funds for acquistion and programming; It will allow for significant expansion of computer workspace; It will allow for more dedicated space for scholars and writers; It will make for a more "democratic" library; It is wasteful to use one of the library's great assets, its prime Fifth Avenue real estate, for storage. The library promises a new barcode system will allow it to deliver books from offsite in a timely fashion and reduce losses, and that the most-called books will remain in the building. These arguments are not to be dismissed. The library can't help but face the future, and do so in a proactive way. It has already begun jts modernization campaign, a process that has included replacement of its pneumatic call system, and the introduction of cafe service, courtesy of Danny Meyer.

THE BRIEF
THE CONCEPT
The brief was to rebrand the city of London. Moving way from the negative Stereotype that the public have of the city. Connotations that derive from the financial crash of 2008 as well as the unapproachable feel the city has to outsiders due to its high-end pretentious image.
The concept behind the identity is to unite the City of London, or as it is referred to in my project the Square Mile, under one identity. Which is free of internal prejudice, and a show of unity to outsiders, which gives a more approachable feel to the mile. Which would hopefully encourage outside business and get people proud of area again. An area that is rich in culture, Cuisine etc and an under rated destination for visitors.

GOLDMAN’S TAKE POSITIVE STEPS IN CRUNCH. Carrying on a week chock full of important earnings announcements, Goldman Sachs is expected to report its first quarter earnings result tomorrow at 8 am.Analysts polled by Bloomberg are expecting Goldman to report earnings of $3.55 per share, a figure which has risen steadily in the last month as analysts adjusted for increased investment banking and trading activity from earlier in the year. Revenue is expected at about $9.45 billion, a decrease from $13.64 billion a year ago.The firm notes that on May 11 the FDA antiviral Advisory Committee will discussGilead's key HIV pipeline drug, Quad, which has a PDUFA date of August 27. They expect panel documents on May 9.Goldman expects the FDA's Advisory Committee to vote for approval of the Quad based on the strong data in two Phase III trials. This, they believe, will lift this overhang from the stock.

THE WEBSITE The website adds interactivity to the project, it allows potential visitors to be up to date with what’s going on with in the Mile. As well as keeping up to date with news. It is organised with in the subcategories, which in turn follows the distinctive colour schemes to further the identity. The design is simplistic yet informative.
THE APP The App is a continuation of the Wayfinding with in the mile. Allowing visitors to pick and find locations with in the Mile whilst being directed to them. The design of the app like the website follows the colour scheme dependant on the chosen subcategory. The intention was to simplify visitor’s experience with a degree of clarity.

PUBLICATION SAM EDWARDS-THE SQUARE MILE-0UGD203
THE PUBLICATION The idea behind the publications is to encourage people to visit the mile once they see the cuisine etc. on offer. These would be free publications distributed around greater London on a monthly basis, specifically targeting the middle class middle aged audience.
THE PROPOSAL I have proposed 5 publications on a monthly basis. One for each subcategory within the miles identity. The design of them would follow a consistent layout and identity. This will make them easily recognisable to potential visitors.

PROMOTION The Promotion for the Mile is based around highlighting the postives to inhabitants of greater london as a place to visit, as a result it is important for the poster/magazine spreads etc to be located in appropriate places, for example tube stops outside the Square Mile. The design follows the consitancy shown thorugh out.
SOCIAL NETWORKING It is important to have a digital form of promotion; as a result Facebook was the obvious choice creating groups and obtaining follows to the Mile and its attractions. Is another way of people of keeping people involved interacting with the mile and encouraging people re visit to witness the diverse attractions.
