WHAT A FEW WEEKS...

it has been for us all at Turners, as June 1st saw our joining together with Coastline Produce. We’re very excited to see the new Turners Coast begin deliveries from Christchurch and also the start of the integration of Coastline’s Tonbridge depot. The new staff teams are all very excited about the development and we’re hoping to be able to develop some friendly competition, both at work and away from work too. It will take some time for the nuances to be ironed out but we look forward to seeing how the two businesses complement each other and allow us to extend and improve our overall service.

In terms of products this month we have a new brand of top quality sea salt called Piran. Some of you may be familiar with it, as it is regarded by many as one of the best in the business, with chefs all over the country giving it their seal of approval.

This early summer period is when goat's milk is at its best so we thought we would have a look at some of France's finest goat's cheese.

We also have a new supplier of premium cooked and smoked turkey. The award winning meat from Adlington is available to buy whole or sliced from our custom build meat slicing facility.

Legend has it that the flat top pyramid comes following an angry Napoleon slicing the top of one off in a fit of rage. In terms of flavour it is nutty, slightly earthy and acidic. Cow, Auvergne. Capsule-shaped cheese often called the 'connoisseur's blue cheese' as the flavour is milder than other blue cheeses, and works well with other cheeses, so it is perfect for a board. Coming to us from producer Xavier Morin et Fils it has a rich and buttery texture with a mellow, nutty taste.

Cow, Savoie. Semi-soft, full fat, rind-washed cheese with a supple, chewy texture and an earthy flavour with a slightly fruity lift on the rind. A worthy addition to any cheeseboard but works equally well as an ingredient and is an especially good melter.

DOMINIK SADOWSKI

Picking Supervisor Dom is part of our tireless night crew whose job it is to gather customer orders together ready to be loaded onto our vans each day. His role is to plan the night's picking schedule, making sure that it is done on time, as well as providing any training where necessary.

Dom has been with us since 2007 and from day one felt right at home. He puts this down to the great working atmosphere within the company and says it is probably one of the best things about his job. That and the fact that he has the opportunity to discover new and wonderful foods on a daily basis.

In his spare time Dom likes to stay very active, mainly by running, swimming and cycling. Perhaps more impressively is the fact that in his native Poland he used to be part of the international athletics team, competing in the javelin. Injury to his elbow and shoulder forced him into an early retirement, but he still loves to stay involved in the sport, by helping train the next generation of young athletes, as a coach. In fact one of his protégés recently became under 15 English champion in the event.
