Scéalta le Beochan Each level of Bua na Cainte features a wide range of stimulating animated stories, incorporating new and traditional tales that appeal to children of all ages. The teacher can control whether or not the text of the story appears on-screen and there is also provision for manipulating the text line-by-line forwards and backwards. Bua na Cainte A and B: each level contains 13 animated stories Bua na Cainte 1 and 2: each level contains 11 animated stories Bua na Cainte 3 and 4: contains 12 animated stories NEW Bua na Cainte 5: contains animated stories
Tascanna Éisteachta, Tuisceana, agus Cluichí Bua na Cainte A and B have a wide range of attractive games to motivate students to learn Irish in a fun way. Interactive Jigsaws, Dress the Character, Matching Games and Drag and Drop activities. Clár Bán In the Interactive Learning Environment, teachers are given a library of resources which provide plenty of opportunity to design differentiated activities. Teachers can design their own lessons to meet the needs of a particular class. There is a variety of features in this section which include a library of pictures, a choice of backgrounds, and the unique feature of access to all the pictures and backgrounds of the other themes. The options vary for the different class levels. For example, Bua na Cainte A and B have the option of colouring in the characters, Bua na Cainte 1 and 2 have a section on the letters while Bua na Cainte 3, 4 and 5 have a save button which allows teachers to save their lessons. Cabhair don Mhúinteoir For every lesson, story, song and activity in Bua na Cainte there is a link to a corresponding Teacher’s Help page where all the language is provided for the teacher. In addition, there is a complete set of curriculum-focused lesson plans for each lesson comprising language functions and corresponding language exemplars along with the strands and elements – oral language, reading and writing. Each lesson note contains a variety of teaching methodologies for each phase of the lesson: • An Tréimhse Réamhchumarsáide • An Tréimhse Chumarsáide • An Tréimhse Iarchumarsáide These notes are presented in a clear and logical manner with suggestions for the informal use of Irish throughout the school day and suggestions are provided also for Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL).
Measúnú Formative assessment is an integral part of the Bua na Cainte programme. Every theme features a task to revise and assess the content of the theme. For example in the NEW Bua na Cainte 5 the learning outcomes for oral language, reading and writing are assessed.

The NEW Bua na Cainte 5 Pupil Book plays a key role in the pupil’s language learning. The book comprises a variety of exciting and challenging educational activities that support and complement the interactive resources. NEW Bua na Cainte 5 Leabhar Litrithe is a comprehensive spelling and grammar programme which is integrated with the other components of the programme. The activities are designed so that children can learn in an enjoyable and structured way and achieve the desired learning outcomes.
Teacher’s Resource Books An invaluable Teacher’s Resource Book provides a comprehensive introduction to assist teachers in their short and long-term planning. Grammar The grammar series follows the outline of the new Primary Language Curriculum and encourages pupils to consolidate their learning.

WHY IMPLEMENT MY LEARNER ID My Learner ID will support the following key areas for schools and teachers: School Self Evaluation – it gives teachers a framework for operationalising the new school evaluation framework. It supports over 30 Statements of Highly Effective Practice from the ‘Looking At Our School 2016’ Learner Empowerment – teaches learners to understand how to learn and helps others understand the learner perspective Assessment – balances ‘hard’ assessment scores with rich picture information about the learner and gives a holistic picture of the learner. Explore with Me is a new, vibrant and engaging SESE programme, written by three highly experienced subject experts and practising Primary school teachers. This easy-to-follow programme, with integrated digital resources encourages pupils to explore, investigate and understand their local environment and the world. Explore with Me available from Junior Infants to Second Class is completely in line with the SESE Primary Curriculum and NCCA guidelines.
Explore with Me covers all strands of the SESE programme from Junior Infants to Second Class
History, Geography and Science are given equal attention in the programme, ensuring a balanced approach to the teaching of SESE
The programme is organised into ten themes at each class level; one theme is covered per month
A spiral approach is used whereby themes are revisited to allow for extensive engagement with each topic
