Giles1 While you may have spent some good money on your iPhone, you may be surprised to learn how easy it is to use it to actually save you money. There is literally an app for just about everything, in fact, there are so many apps to search through, it is almost too overwhelming to even bother. I thought I’d help you out, so I put together a list of 5 of the best money saving apps you need to have to show you how easy it can be to start saving money. Beyond saving you some money, they can also make your life a bit easier as well. Most of these money saving apps are free (or have free versions), they are all top-rated, and I have personal experience with each one. GasBuddy – Not only is this one of the best money saving apps out there, with today’s gas prices constantly fluctuating, this one is sure to help you out a lot. This cool, free app, will locate gas stations near you and show you their current gas prices. GasBuddy’s community of users regularly help update gas prices to be sure you find the cheapest gas around. Shop Savvy Barcode Scanner and QR Reader – This is another one of the best money saving apps I have recently discovered. It’s another free app that uses the camera on your iPhone to scan an item's barcode. The app will then show you a list of prices, including the cheapest places on-line or locally to purchase it. Shop Savvy can access over 20,000 retailers and over 20 million items. If available, it will also display shipping promos, coupon codes, rebates and more. Garage sale Rover – With all the bargain hunting going on lately, garage sales are getting more popular again. When it comes to searching garage sales for bargains, it pays to have a plan and be organized to make the most of your time. That makes this one of the best money saving apps, as this free app allows you to view garage sales listed on Craigslist and other sources on a map, it can then give you turn-by-turn directions. Another handy feature is that you can search listings by interest, such as tools, children’s clothing, toys, etc. and save your favorites for better route planning. Allrecipes Dinner Spinner Pro – While definitely one of the top rated money saving apps, this app, currently $2.99, can still help save you lots of money besides it being very useful. Dinner Spinner Pro gives you mobile access to all the recipes on Allrecipes' site, and lets you search by ingredients to help give you lots of meal options. It also helps you make shopping lists that can be checked off as you shop, which is an effective way to cut down on grocery bills. One neat twist is that it lets you change the number of servings in a particular recipe and will automatically change the amount needed on your shopping list. A free version of this app is available, but it has a few limitations, such as not including all recipes found on their site. Mint (dot) com Personal Finance – Here is another one of the great money saving apps I found. It’s a free app, courtesy of Mint (dot) com, that gives you access to their personal finance tools while on the go. With it, you can track, budget, and manage your money anytime . . . anywhere. You can also conveniently see all your accounts; from your checking and savings to your credit card accounts and retirement, etc. It can automatically pull in and categorize your transactions and will build a customized budget based on your spending habits. The app is passcode protected and there is an iPhone access “opt-out” button on their website (in the event you lose your iPhone) to help keep users’ sensitive financial data secure. Who knew saving money with your iPhone could be so easy? Of course there is an app for that! The iPhone, with help of its ever growing catalog of apps, has become one of the most frequently used devices people use on a daily basis. Hopefully with my list of 5 money saving apps you need to have, you will not only save some money, but make your life a little simpler as well.
