Are You An Expert in Your Field? Here Are 6 Reasons Why You Should Build an Information Marketing Business digitalbloggers.com /business/Why-You-Should-Build-an-Information-Marketing-Business
Introduction Information is big business. Consider this snapshot of an Internet second, 54,000+ Google searches, 7,000+ tweets, 125,000+ YouTube video views and 2,000,000+ emails sent. These are but just a few online hangouts where the masses congregate to consume their information (statistics courtesy of:http://www.dailymail.co.uk)

The more connected we are the hungrier we get for information. Approximately 46% of the World population is connected online, up from 30% a little over 5 years ago. So if you are still wondering why you should build an information marketing online business, consider these 6 tips.
1.
Information is Timeless
A well-known but little-discussed fact is that information does not change. What holds true today will still be tomorrow and 100 years from now. I am an avid reader and one of my favourite books is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. The rules of success inked in his book are as true today as they were 100 years ago when Andrew Carnegie and John D. Rockefeller were building their billion dollar empires in today’s money. Also, most of the writings by the ancient Greek philosophers like Plato and Socrates still remain relevant today.
If you are an expert in your field, you could potentially be sitting on a pot of gold with your information. These could be related to fitness, personal training, health, lifestyle, motivational speaking and many other niche markets. Tony Robbins and Bob Proctor are good examples that you might already be aware of. An important aspect of information that seems to work very well is information that moves people and touches their hearts. This is the same thing artists have done for many generations with music and visual art.

An Information Hungry Generation Awaits
The number of connected devices according to networking giant Cisco is in excess of 8billion and counting as at 2012. Considering that the bulk of these are smart devices it means the hunger for more information is only going to increase. However, information provided must be quality. The population today might be hungry but they are not going to pick at the bottom of the pile to satisfy that hunger. Those days are gone. The younger population especially is generally more enlightened and if you are going to build an information business online that targets them, you must be aware of this not so little fact. Content is King but it has to be of value. It really is that simple. Negative reviews online will break your business in a heartbeat.
3.
A Business With Low Barriers To Entry
An information marketing online business requires little start-up costs compared to a traditional brick&mortar business. Consider a personal trainer who shoots a video series that ends up on DVD versus one who opens a gym down your street. The latter has all sorts of startup costs to consider even before he can start providing value to the market. Quality video training can be re-purposed as many times as possible but the guy who owns a gym down the road has to show up every day to provide value in just that one location to a limited number of people.

4.
Highly Scalable & Profitable Online Business Model
Most information marketing online businesses are ‘lean-mean’ machines set up as a home business. They only require a handful of staff to do the front-end administration tasks and customer support. Content and technology aspects are outsourced. This means your monthly operational expenses are minimal. This is good because you very likely end up with good profit margins. Freelancing platforms that provide outsourcing such as www.upwork.com and www.fiverr.com are absolute gems. I have had some great work done this way and although the resource selection process on those platforms can be daunting at first, once you find good quality people, you can use them multiple of times to do stuff you don’t like to do.

However, when starting out, no support staff is required. You create the information and utilise the necessary technology required to package it. This could be in form of podcasts, online videos, in-store/online DVDs, emagazines, newsletters, e-books, membership websites, automated webinars, recorded seminars and conferences. The key takeaway here is, you do your hard work once. Depending on the niche market in question, you will want to ensure that content stays relevant by reviewing and updating as is necessary.
5.
Little Interaction With Customers
The great thing about launching an information marketing online business is you do not have to deal with customers directly if you do not want to. Also, there is very little chance they will be knocking on your front door with complaints. An only exception is where you are offering a high-end product where it requires them meeting you ‘the expert’ for some 1-on-1 sessions.
6.
Customer Retention
Information products are easier to sell to existing customers. Once a customer buys your low priced front-end offer it is easier to keep selling to them again and again. This is because, at that point, they already know you and already tried your product successfully. Further, if your front-end products are actually transformational in terms of results the customer experienced, chances are they will take on your back-end and usually more expensive offers. There’s a science to this aspect of the business. It relates to a marketing concept known in the online world as a sales funnel. Once a customer enters your funnel by purchasing your front-end offer, you create a process (usually through an email sequence) whereby you continue to provide them value and building a relationship with them before introducing your other high-end products.

If this is your first time hearing about this concept you might find my mentor’s Internet marketing information product very useful like I did. It is a step-by-step online training and covers in depth what you need to know to run a successful business online. You also learn how to monetize other people’s products as well. I am an affiliate marketer of this product so I get to learn and earn. A win-win situation if you would like a ready-to-market business. Wishing you success.
