Curriculum-Based Education School Programs

The Elman W. Campbell Museum offers heritage school programs for students in kindergarten, to grade 3 (during the school year). Indigenous History Month. What are the three sisters? The grandfather teachings?

See the diversity of Indigenous culture though the museum’s displays and collection of Indigenous artifacts. Go on an adventure with our scavenger hunt and learn about trading while making a beaded bracelet. Note: *Admission for this program by monetary donation.

Wee Fun Wednesday at the Museum for Tots and Caregivers

Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. |$5/child |Suitable for ages 1 to 4 years. | Parent/guardian supervision required. No food or drinks in the galleries. Drop in programs for Tots and Caregivers will stimulate communication, cooperation, imagination and make new friends. Stop in for crafts and finish up by seeing one of our many displays! Join us for a different theme each Wednesday.

Friday Seniors Social Bees: Offered the first Friday of the Month

Drop in and join us the first Friday of every month for an engaging morning of different theme-based traditional activities and mini museum pop-up displays. Bring along your knitting or a handiwork from home as we finish up the morning with coffee and chats!

Fridays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. | Ages 55+ | Prices vary according to activity. Pre-register by calling the museum at 905953-5314 or register online at play.newmarket. ca. Limited registration.

Friday, February 3 | Valentines | $5/person We will explore the origins of Valentines, learn about Vinegar Valentines, create a two-tiered Victorian Valentine craft and share memories about Valentine traditions. Museum staff will host a mini Victorian treasures display.

Friday, March 3 | Bring and Brag | Free Bring in a small treasured heirloom from home and tell us about it! Museum staff will host a mini “What Is It?” display.

Valentine Crafts at the Museum

Woodland Creatures Day! Create a woodland creature paper puppet. $5/child.

Older siblings welcome. Suitable for ages 1-6. • Thursday, March 16 – Dinosaur Day! Make your own Dinosaur Terrarium! Includes themed supplies. $20/child • Friday, March 17 – Butterfly Day! Create a painted Butterfly Doily craft. $5/child.

Love Local, Love Main Street New Exhibit!

Take a stroll back in time down our beloved Main Street. Discover newly created displays showcasing artifacts that tell the stories of local businesses from days gone by. Opens February 2023 | Tuesday to Saturday | 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.| Free admission (monetary donations accepted).
