“What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
H
appy Birthday to me. November is my birthday month. Because I celebrate at the end of the year just before Christmas. I look back at the many months that have brought me to this moment, and the many years that have contributed to my growth, and I am grateful. I am thankful for all the things that I have been given, and I am filled with joy.

MY TOP PICKS THIS ISSUE

s you look back into this year, what things have you found have brought you joy, and what do you feel has brought you lessons that you carry onto the last month of the year. For me, November may symbolise a new year, but November is definitely not the end of 2019. If anything, its an alarm bell, that we are at the end of the year, and we are in the final 15 minutes. Go in and go hard. Don’t let the last few minutes take away your steam. Use the last minutes to make the home run, to give it your
final strength, and don’t give up.

man’s shoes are worth a thousand words. It is a fact – you never get a second chance to make a great first impression. Is this fair? Maybe not but that’s the reality. It has been proven ladies look at a man’s shoes before they even consider giving a gentleman the light of day. In general, good shoes are the best way to earn you brownie points on that first date or all important job interviews. Beat down shoes scream hard times or lack of care thereof. Distressed shoes only apply to casual lifestyles – vintage boots and vans, that aging effect actually add to the appeal and these two are the only exception. Keep it classy and spiffy! That’s the best practice for business settings. If you are looking to put that spring back into your step this summer, here are my recommendations;
C
The
AP TOE OXFORD: Classic oxfords are described as “ quintessential ” no man should be found wanting. It is the most versatile pair of shoes any man can own. Oxford cap toes come in closed lace up, with straight stitched cap. Traditionally Oxfords were the preserve for formal settings work, weddings and funerals, but then if

popular with the young and young at heart. Besides the classic black and white, these come in cool trendy colours and print. Contrary to the norm, All Stars and Vans can be dressed up with your suits and dressed down with jeans, shorts and joggers. One should just be cautious
D
RESS BOOTS: These are equal parts dressy and rugged at the same time, making them a versatile choice to enhance just about any look, under just about any weather condition. For a contemporary updated look, avoid anything that is overly round toe or outdoorsy. Instead, keep them sharp, lean and wear them with everything from slim suits, skinny denim and chinos. Of all dress boots, Monk boots are regarded as the dressiest of all footwear. Monk boots are everything as mentioned above plus an additional feature, which is a side buckle.
C
ANVAS SNEAKERS: Classic high or low cut, laces up Converse All Stars sneakers are timeless and cut across sexes and age. Another popular brand in this category is Vans which is also

when Vans and All Stars tattered to shreds; there is a very fine line between character and worn out.
T
HE MINIMALIST WHITE SNEAKERS: My personal favourite and I feel it is a staple for every man’s wardrobe. This trend was derived from the premise – Less is MORE! The all white shoes are a staple for a reason. It is November 2019

literally a blank canvas meaning it can be paired with anything. Besides being understated, minimalist sneakers exude quiet confidence and class allowing your whole outfit to stand out. On my favs list; Adidas Stan Smith, Nike Cortez, Nike Airforce and Superga Cotu in that order.
T
HE UGLY SNEAKER TREND: Just like how the high waist Mom jean, the formerly dated Dad sneaker style has made a come back in 2018 – 19 and club
November 2019
not dying down any minute. As usual influencers, designers and celebrities have been a catalyst in bringing the ugly sneaker to the millennials. Dad shoes got their name thanks to their retro appearance. The formerly not so aesthetically appealing oversize sneakers have been given an upgrade. Depending on what tickles your fancy Dad sneakers come in either minimalist or maximalist styles. These have gone from drab straight to the runway and Instagram. Edgars Club @ 5 years
P
ENNY LOAFERS: These are a relaxed style of shoes and are very comfortable to wear. They are easy to wear and come in slip on style. Penny loafers/ can be worn with shorts, jeans, and chinos when dressed down. However can be dressed up depending on occasion. This can be worn with pricy casual linen suits like for instance a beach wedding or any other classy affair on the green.

B
OAT / DECK SHOES: Boat shoes were originally designed for sailing however they have gradually evolved to fashionable every day kicks. These are my to go shoes when I want to look/ feel preppy and comfortable at the same time. Aesthetically most boat shoes have traditional white nonmarking souls and have a moccasin outlook.

All Black 2019 TREND W
e all know black is flattering, but it’s also extremely versatile especially when it’s done head to toe. You can wear it to the office, to brunch with the girls, dress it up or dress it down. You really can’t go wrong. This is probably the one instance where I think anything goes. Experiment with different textures, try new trends, or pair unexpected pieces together. If you’re hesitant to try some of the latest trends like a peplum sweater, coated jeans, or a varsity jacket, create a head-to-toe black look and I promise you’ll pull it off! Edgars Club @ 5 years

R omantic Lace 2019 TREND I
t might be easier to ask where wasn’t there any lace on the spring 2019 runways. Lace is the definitive fabric of the spring/ summer 2019 fashion trends, going hand in hand with many other ultra-feminine trends. From virginal takes on lace at Sakai and OffWhite to sexy designs at Marco De Vincenzo and Burberry, we saw it all. At Alexander Wang, lace was paired with more sporty designs, in unique urban meets romance vibe.

Korean Beauty
10 STEP SKINCARE ROUTINE Rather than relying on one thick cream to do all the work, Koreans believe that layering products allow the skin to breathe and avoids clogging the pores.

November 2019
T
he now-famous Korean skincare routine looked like a trend when it first showed up around the world. Now that the products have earned their own nook in retailers, they’re here to stay. Despite the clamor over Korean products, there’s one aspect to this style of skincare that either
turns people off or lights them up like a Christmas tree. It’s called the 10step routine, and it refers to the way products are layered onto the skin. It inspires fierce devotion in some, and Reddit’s Korean Beauty sub is lit up with discussions of which products rank “holy grail” status. In the other camp, you have publications like Edgars Club @ 5 years
the Wall Street Journal calling the skincare routine “exhausting.” Regardless of what camp you’re in, the 10-step routine is a hallmark of Korean beauty, but what many don’t know is that that number of steps is very flexible – and it will change not only depending on your skin type but also the seasons. I’ll walk you through each of the steps in this feature, explaining what they do, why they’re important, and if they will improve your skin. It may mean you spend 10 minutes in the bathroom in the morning or at night, but if you can’t spare 10 minutes for yourself, we need to back up to a lesson on selfcare first. What is the Korean skincare routine? These are the 10 steps as commonly recommended by Korean beauty retailers and influencers. • Oil cleanser • Foam/cream cleanser • Toner • Essence • Emulsion • Ampoule/Serum Edgars Club @ 5 years
• Sheet Mask • Eye Cream • Moisturizer • Sunscreen Korean skincare step 1: Double cleanse The first step of the Korean skincare routine is to wash your face twice: once with oil, once with a foaming cleanser. Why? Because each type of cleanser gets a different type of crud off your face. While oily skin types may be balking at the idea of washing with oil, it’s actually extremely effective against oil-based impurities like SPF, sebum, and pollutants. It’s not as good against sweat and dirt, though, which is where the second cleanse comes in. Another thing that Korean beauty swears by is facial massage (in fact, it’s popular throughout many Asian countries). Taking a few minutes to massage your face will stimulate the surface of the skin, preparing it for the products you’re about to apply. It also drains lymphatic glands in your

face and neck that can cause puffiness. It’s best to splash your cleansers off with lukewarm water rather than dry it with a towel, as the surface of the skin is sensitive. Treat it with the utmost care, and you’ll notice it makes a difference.
When you get to your second cleanser, another rule you may not have heard of before now applies: check out low pH products. How can you tell if a cleanser is low pH? Well, if it’s super foamy, it probably isn’t. When companies like good old 109 Clearasil mention “pH balance,” it’s talking about that sweet spot on the pH scale where our skin naturally falls between 4.2 and 5.6. Head north of that, and skin grows more alkaline, or south, and it gets too acidic. The results of that include skin irritation, acne, blotches and more. If your face feels too tight after you wash it, that’s not a clean feeling – that means your cleanser’s pH is too high. Korean skincare step 2: Toner November 2019
club
look smart beauty
In America, we associate the word toner with an astringent meant to wipe even more gunk off our faces, stripping our skin. In the Korean skincare routine, toners are the opposite of that. They are typically a thin layer of moisture meant to regulate your pH and soften your skin, preparing it for the steps that will follow. Korean toners come in many varieties, from thin to viscous. You can also include active ingredients like AHA and BHA in your toners 110 if you’d like more intense results against aging, acne damage and fine lines. Typically, Korean toners are packed full of botanical ingredients that address similar concerns. You can apply them with your hands and pat into the skin, or apply with a cotton ball or pad. But since your skin reacts happily to the touch of warm hands, we like to opt for the former whenever we can. Korean skincare step 3: Essence One of the keys to the club
November 2019
glowy results of a regular Korean skincare routine is layering products. Rather than relying on one thick cream to do all the work, Koreans believe that layering products allow the skin to breathe and avoids clogging the pores. So if you think of your toner as the first layer of moisture, think of an essence as the second. These products are typically also thinner in texture, and some even feel watery. They penetrate the skin at a deeper level and aid with the absorption of the products to come. Korean skincare step 4: Emulsion Another layer of moisture, you say? Yes. If you want “glass skin,” you have to work for it. That means drinking tons of H2O, exercising and eating well, and spending more than 30 seconds on your skincare routine. If you think that’s too long, don’t complain to us when you get another terrible breakout! The emulsion layer is often just a bit more
viscous than the previous layers, starting to build the richness and sheen we are going for in the final result. Much like the prior layers, these products are often packed with botanical extracts and other power-packed ingredients. However, some skin types may need more moisture than others. If you are an oily skin type, for instance, doing an emulsion layer might make you feel greasy. For super dry types, we can never get enough layers! The best way to decide if this step will work for you is to get to know your own skin. Luckily, the more handson time you have with it during your routine, the easier that becomes. Korean skincare step 5: Serum/ampoule Here we are on step five (or six, if you count the double cleanse as two). Feeling overwhelmed yet? If so, this is a perfect time to stress that even though the Korean beauty routine is famous for having 10 steps, there’s nothing wrong with doing less. Typically serums and Edgars Club @ 5 years
ampoules come next in the lineup, but if you feel your skin has had enough? Feel free to skip them. What I’m telling you may be blasphemous to some converts of Korean beauty, but as I said before, only you know what works best for your face. That said, both serums and ampoules are highly concentrated products. Ampoules are presented as a souped-up version of a serum by some companies. But as vlogger The Beauty Breakdown says, these products are kind of … the same. A big blast of intense moisture, a thicker texture, and an opportunity to add more juicy goodness to your skin. Use it if you dig the effects. If you’re trying for the glowy look Koreans call “chok chok,” don’t skip this step.
store. If you can afford it, though, you’ll want to spend more than a buck on a mask. These usually take 15-20 minutes and can be done as frequently or infrequently as you like. My favorite times to use them are before and after plane rides (as the pressurized air in the cabin dries the heck out of your skin), after a long day in the sun, or before a special event. Sheet masks are typically soaked in serum, so yep … another layer. The juicer ones have so much that it’ll be all pooled up at the bottom of the package. I like to use this on my decollete and arms. It’s packed with good ingredients, so no point in wasting it. One word to
look smart beauty
the wise: all sheet masks are not made alike!
Korean skincare step 7: Eye cream Eye cream is not unique to the Korean skincare routine, but it is one of the hardest products to consistently use because it’s more a preventative product if you’re under the age of 40. Eye cream is designed to moisturize the ultra-thin skin around your eyes where crow’s feet and fine lines are bound to appear. However, if you use eye cream regularly before they show up, you’ll see a marked 111 difference in how old you look (or in this case, how young!). It may be hard to hear, but most people that apply eye cream are doing it
Korean skincare step 6: Sheet mask Easily the best-known product in this lineup, sheet masks have become so ubiquitous that they’re easy to find just about anywhere. I’ve even seen them at the dollar Edgars Club @ 5 years

wrong. Using the ring finger is the best way as it uses the correct amount of pressure rather than your pointer finger, which is bound to push harder since it’s used more often. The skin around the eyes really is that sensitive! It also dries out easily, so layering your eye cream in cold months is not a bad idea either. One trend among celebrities in South Korea is to wear eye cream as a night moisturizer all over the face. But since they likely have bigger bankrolls than we do, we might leave that for special 112 occasions. Our eye cream primer is still in the works, but for now, check out one of our favorite Korean eye creams: the Blossom Jeju line, which offers two different types of eye creams packed with nourishing ingredients like Camellia Oil, Coconut Oil & Camellia Flower Extract. Korean skincare step 8: Moisturizer After all these layers, a thick layer of cream must sound a little crazy. More club

moisture, still? Maybe not for everyone (I know some friends who sheet mask as their final step). But in the traditional Korean beauty 10-step routine, you use a cream – also known as an occlusive layer – to seal in all the layers before it. Think of it as making a fragrant stew and putting the lid on the pot. It allows the fragrances and flavors inside to mingle and absorb, which is a lot like what all the luscious ingredients you layered are doing in your epidermis when you add a moisturizer. Korean skincare step 9: sunscreen (AM step) Most of us were taught as kids that we had to wear sunscreen when we went to the beach. Unfortunately, we weren’t taught that we should also wear sunscreen pretty much every day (yes, UV rays can reach you inside too). Asian sunscreens also have a major advantage over most US-produced ones: the PA system.
learning about how the different types work to make sure you are using the best one for your needs. Physical sunscreens are mineral-based and tend to leave a white cast behind. Chemical sunscreens are absorbed into the skin and work to suck up UV radiation so it doesn’t damage your skin. Korean skincare 10: sleeping masks (PM step) So you’ve slathered your face with all these layers, and you’re starting to feel like a cake. I get it. But since your body goes into mega repair mode at night, it’s a good time to help with the process by using a sleeping mask. Think of it like a night cream, or a special treatment. It’s simply an extra layer of moisture, but often sleeping masks are designed to work while your body is at rest.
There are also two types of sunscreens: physical and chemical. It’s worth Edgars Club @ 5 years

ESSENTIAL BUTT BUILDING—FIXING YOUR FLAT BUTT!

s you and I know we have all been blessed with different body types. Some may think of their derriére as a blessing, while others would rather say their rear is a curse! I say, let’s work with what you have and turn your butt into your sexiest and most loved body part! I have outlined for you some of the most affective proven butt building exercises. Each day that it’s time to train your lovely lower body, choose three exercises from the list below. Consistency is absolutely key in seeing, and feeling results. The Resistance Exercises
club
November 2019
1
. Barbell Squat Squats are an excellent and proven way of training your gluteus maximus (butt). You can add resistance by performing them while holding dumbbells in your hands or with a bar across your shoulders. If you opt for the bar (advanced), make sure you have a spotter unless the resistance is very light.Varying the width of your feet will change the emphasis of the exercise. The closer together your feet are, the more your quads (front of the thighs) will work. As you move your feet further apart, you’ll feel the exercise more in your hips and butt. You should always have someone check your form to be Edgars Club @ 5 years
sure you’re doing squats properly. If you go to a gym, the leg press machine may be easier to use than doing squats with a bar, and it attacks the same region.
2
. Lunges Lunges are another exercise that works your glutes. Singer Jessica Simpson was noted to have fallen in love with lunges as she sculpted her body to fit her daisy duke shorts in The Dukes of Hazzard. Here are several different types of lunges: • Stationary lunges • Walking lunges • Alternating lunges • Side lunges As a refresher on how to do a lunge, let’s review the stationary lunge with dumbbells. Hold two dumbbells to the side of your body. Bring one leg forward and stand so that you have good balance. Bend both legs and allow the dumbbells to bring your body down towards the ground, making sure your front knee does not go past your toes. At this time the other knee will almost touch the floor; then come back up. Do all of the reps with one leg forward and then continue with the second leg.

you simply give me a chance here, you may start enjoying it as much as I do. On a step or platform, (or on your bed if you train at home) lie facedown with hips on the edge of the step, legs straight with toes resting lightly on the floor. (If you are using a bed, your legs will be off the edge and your feet high off the floor.) Squeeze your glutes and hamstrings and straighten the legs until they are level with the hips.
Lift one leg higher then the other and alternate. Move each leg as though you are doing a flutter kick in water. Try doing 3 sets of 20 repetitions on each leg. Do you want more? Once you have done your 3 sets of Flutter Kicks, in the same position, contract your glutes and hamstrings so that your legs are parallel with the floor and move your legs open, 115 then close. When you close them, have one leg cross over the other. Alternate each rep, which leg is crossing over. Try doing 2-3 sets of 20 repetitions on each leg.
4
. Deadlifts Deadlifts are excellent for your hamstrings, butt and lower back, but form is critical! Start by standing with your feet hip-width apart, and your weights in front of thighs (bar . Hip Extension Hip extension is a or dumbbells). Keeping back flat and abs movement that I will always include in, bend forward from the hips and lower in my pre-contest training or when your torso until your weights reach your I want my butt to look its best. This shins. This is where it’s time to SQUEEZE exercise, which I have learned as “Flutter your butt to raise back up. Remember to Kicks” will surely make your hamstrings keep your weights (bar) close to your legs and glutes burn with delight. OK, maybe throughout the entire range of motion, this doesn’t sound like fun to you, but if with just the slightest bend in the knees.

ake sure that you don’t hyper extend your knees. Do 3 sets of 8-12 reps.
Stepping Your Way To Tight Buns Stairmasters and climbers when used at a slower frequency with honest, normal steps will recruit your butt muscles into action. Do you ever see people at the gym leaning on the machine with their arms and staying on their tiptoes? You have either seen them, or are one of them. Spending 30 minutes on the climber, cheating your way through each step will not bring you results. Feel your body weight as you step down through your heel of each foot. The benefit of completing full steps rather than short mini steps is that your legs and glutes will be enjoying a better workout, as 116 will your heart. Yes this way may be more challenging but it’s the challenge that will raise your cheeks and heart rate = burned calories = fat loss. If you think that steppers will make your butt bigger, you may be eating more then you think. Steppers and a treadmill (on a high incline for walking) have been the foundation for keeping my butt firm, and round. Start at 20 minutes 3 days / wk. If you want to make noticeable changes, step your way up to 30 - 45 min sessions, 5 - 6 days a week.
your butt will be the area reaping the benefits. * The shape of your butt is primarily based on genetics. Looking at your parents or other relatives you will probably notice that you have inherited some of their genes. * Doing lower body exercises (along with upper body training and cardio) and eating more calories than you burn can help you build muscle but your genetics will decide how much your butt can really change. * There isn’t one magic exercise that will make your butt change. Consistency in the gym paired with a nutrient packed eating plan with adequate amounts of protein will be your keys to bringing out the best your glorious glutes.
Final Points Before I let you hit the gym, there are a few points that are important to know. * You can’t choose where you gain weight. If you start eating more and lifting weights, there is no guarantee that club

Dhansak - A dhansak curry has a distinct “sweet and sour” profile to it, but a decent amount of spice to it. It’s often served with a pineapple ring, both as a garnish and to add sweetness to the dish, depending on the chef ’s particular tastes. Tikka Masala - If there’s one dish that might be considered “universal” to all Indian restaurants, tikka masala is arguably it. The tikka element is the chicken or other meats cooked in a tandoor on a skewer, while the masala is the creamy sauce that smothers it. The spices lend zest to the dish, but not a great deal of burn. Saag - Climbing up on the heat scale is saag. Characterized by the presence of spinach, mustard greens and other leafy vegetables, this particular curry has a pleasant but noticeable degree of heat. Korma - Korma curries are spiced not for heat, but for flavor. Rather than cumin and black pepper, korma goes for flavors such as cardamom and cinnamon. Mixed together with butter and cream, and often combined with yogurt-marinated meats that are slow cooked, kormas are definitely for those who want zest without burn. Jalfrezi - Jalfrezis date back to the time of the British Raj and as such are something of an Anglo-Indian fusion. Even so, this particular curry carries a strong but not overpowering heat, owing to the presence of green chiles stir-fried with tomato, onion and coriander.

Vindaloo - Vindaloo curries are, by most standards, the true test of one’s constitution with regards to spicy foods. Originally from the Portuguese colony of Goa, vindaloos go with only a few spices in copious quantities to produce an incredibly hot dish. Those with iron-clad stomachs and palates will find vindaloos to be a delicious meal every time. November 2019

Remove from the heat, and add 2 tbsp of fat free yogurt, and a small bunch of roughly chopped coriander - stir well. Then serve!
Notes Sizzle your spice Kick off your curry by heating whole spices in hot oil to unleash their flavour. Choose from cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and seeds for the perfect base to your dish. Fresh spices are the best choice and will keep for longer in the freezer. Healthy choices It’s a common misconception that curries have to be unhealthy. For a healthier curry, simply soak almonds in water for an 121 hour and blitz to create an almond paste or choose tomato as an alternative to coconut milk. Spices such as chilli and ginger are packed with health benefits such as antioxidants which help fight viruses and can help boost circulation. Take your time A good curry doesn’t have to take hours but it’s important to allow ingredients such as onions to cook properly, to get the most flavour out of them. Plus, save powered spices like Garam Masala until last. The cooking process reduces the flavour of dried spices so it’s best to wait until you’re almost finished with the heat before adding to your mix. November 2019

Notes
Principle 1: Be generous with your spices. Spices not only bring flavour but texture to dishes. Most supermarkets sell spices in misleadingly small containers. You can buy bigger packets from Asian supermarkets, which will encourage you to spoon in the spices with a freer hand. (You can store them in the freezer to stop them going stale.) Principle 2: Decide how you are going to cook your onion, ginger, and garlic. This triumvirate provides the deep base flavour of most curries, equivalent to onion, carrot and celery in the French tradition. (NB: garlic is not essential. Some Indians eschew it completely on account of its pun- 125 gency and it is often left out of food served at weddings to avoid offending guests.) Soften them without colouring for a lighter curry (as in the first recipe) or cook them longer and caramelise (as in the second) for something richer and darker. Principle 3: Decide what is going to give your curry sauce its body. This will normally be one, or a combination, of the following: tomatoes; pureed peppers or chillies; yoghurt or cream; coconut milk; spinach, or finely diced or pureed onion. Bear these principles in mind, and curry-making will become simple and pleasurable. You will be free to improvise. You will become the master of your very own curry matrix. November 2019

REDUCE ANXIETY Anxiety is just another emotion. Although you don’t have the capability to control your physiological emotional reactions, you do have control over how you manage certain emotions such as; sadness, anger, excitement, etc. As for anxiety, it’s an emotion that is opposite to that of a physiological response, which means that you have the power to control this particular emotion just like you do anger, excitement, and sadness. Taking things slow is very difficult for most of us, and it’s the number one thing that will cause anxiety, or improve it if you learn to take things more slow. Edgars Club @ 5 years

arble tile comes in a wide range of colors, making it an ideal choice for accentuating any type of decor. In addition to the multitude of hues available, the differences in vein patterns and grain distinguish various types of marble from one another. To the untrained eye, it might be difficult to differentiate the types of marble. With so many options to choose from, it’s helpful to do some research so you make the best decision for your renovation project.

create distinctive mosaic patterns on floors and walls with this material. No matter which type you decide to install, marble tile adds a timeless visual impact wherever it’s placed. Here are some popular marble options: Carrara Marble Tile This is generally white, gray or blue-gray and commonly used in sculpture and building decor. Its veining is more linear and can either be small and fine or soft and feathery, although it can be dramatic. One of the more readily available marble options, Carrara is one of the most commonly used marbles in residences. Since it can have a stark, pristine whiteness, use it in bathrooms to add an airy and clean feel. Edgars Club @ 5 years
Statuary Marble tile A sister stone to Carrara, statuary marble features a uniform background and light gray tones with distinctive and more dramatic veining. Its semi translucent white background gives it a shiny, glossy feel, reflects light and provides a radiant finish that enhances any room. Calacatta Marble tile “Due to its rarity, many people consider Calacatta a luxury stone.” Often misspelled as Calcutta, Calcata, and Calacata, this marble tile is also commonly mistaken for Carrara marble. Even though Calacatta marble is often quarried in the Carrara region of Italy and shares similarities with Carrara marble, such as their white coloring with gray veining, they have several distinct characteristics that set them apart. Calacatta marble is generally white with dark veining in large, thick patterns. For some homes, it can add a striking look when paired with the stainless steel of a kitchen or the white porcelain of a bathroom. Since it is rarer than Carrara, many people consider Calacatta a luxury stone. Calacatta gold marble adds a splash of richness to the tiles, and it can radiate either warm and cool tones depending on what colors you match with it.

Emperador Marble Tile Quarried from three regions in Spain, this stone varies from the whites and grays associated with Calacatta and Carrara and comes in different shades of brown. It typically exhibits fine grains with irregular veins. Its darker color makes it an ideal choice for a high-traffic floor or a charming fireplace surround.
Crema Marfil Marble tile Also quarried in Spain, crema marfil comes in many tonal variations. The most prevalent and well-known tiles have a light-beige or yellowish color with uniform backgrounds and veins varying in intensity and irregularity. Crema marfil is typically used with other darker and more colored natural stones, and is commonly found in exterior cladding, flooring and decorations. A large reserve 141 and wide market availability makes this an appealing choice for homeowners and architects.Even after considering your options, it’s helpful to order samples to see the various shades of a particular type of marble in person. Since marble is a natural stone, there can be a variety of color streaks and vein patterns, even within a single set. But this only adds to marble’s charm, and you can easily use this particular characteristic to create truly exceptional patterns.

3. A law or principle is a scientific fact or statement that has been proven and experimented to be true for all conditions. 4. A theorem is a fact or statement that is true and proven but applicable under specific conditions. What is physics? Physics is a Greek word meaning nature hence it deals with natural phenomena. Physics is therefore a science whose objective is the study of components of matter and their mutual interactions. Physics is also defined as the study of matter and its relation to energy. A physicist is able to explain bulk properties of matter as well as other phenomena observed.
Branches of physics 1. Mechanics – the study of motion of bodies under the influence of force. 2. Electricity – this deals with the movement of charge from one point to another through a conductor. 3. Magnetism – the study of magnets and magnetic fields and their extensive applications. 4. Measurement
In order to measure we need to know or define the quantity to be measured and the units for measuring it. In 1971 a system known as the International System of Units (Systeme’ Internationale) and seven basic units were agreed upon as follows. Other quantities can be obtained from these basic quantities and are referred to as derived quantities. Length This is the measure of distance between two points in space. The SI unit for length is the metre (m).Therefore 1 km = 1000 m 1 Hm = 100 m 1 Dm= 10 m 1 mm = 0.001 m Length is measured using a metre rule (100 cm), tape measure (100 m, 300 m, 500 m) Area This is the measure of the extent of a surface. It is a derived quantity of length. Its SI units are square metres (m2). Other units are cm2, km2, etc.
Formulas are used to determine areas of regular bodies while for irregular bodies an approximation of area is used. Volume This is the amount of space occupied by matter. The SI units for volume is cubic metre (m3). Other sub-multiples are cm3, mm3 and l. Hence 1 m3 = 1,000,000 cm3 and 1l= 1,000 cm3. Volume can be measured using a measuring cylinder, eureka can, pipette, burette, volumetric flask, beaker, etc.
Mass This is the quantity of matter contained in a substance . Matter is anything that occupies space and has weight. The SI unit for mass is the Kilogram (kg). Other sub-multiples used are grams (g), milligrams (mg) and tonnes (t). 1 kg = 1,000 g = 1,000,000 mg=100 tonnes. A beam balance is used to measure mass. Density This is mass per unit November 2019

Calculate the density of the glass in kgm -3. Solution Density = mass / volume = (187.5 /1000) /(2.0 × 7.5 × 5.0 /1,000,000) = 2,500 kgm-3. 2. It is symbolized by (d) and has no units since it’s a ratio. Relative density (d) = density of substance / density of water. It is measured using a relative density bottle Example The relative density of some type of wood is 0.8. Find the density of the wood in kg/m 3. Solution Density of substance = d × density of water Density of subs tance = 0.8 × 1,000 = 800 kgm-3 Densities of mixtures We use the following formula to calculate densities of mixtures Density of the mixture = mass of the mixture / volume of the mixture
Example 100 cm3 of fresh water of density 1,000 kgm-3 is mixed with 100 cm3 of sea water of density 1030 kgm-3. Calculate the density of the mixture. Solution Mass = density × volume Mass of fresh water = 1,000 × 0.0001 = 0.1 kg Mass of sea water = 1030 × 0.0001 = 0.103 kg Mass of mixture = 0.1 + 0.103 = 0.203 kg Volume of mixture = 100 + 100 = 200 cm3 = 0.0002 m3 Therefore density = mass / volume = 0.203 / 0.0002 =1,015 kg/m3. Time This is a measure of duration of an event. The SI unit for time is the second (s). Sub- multiples of the second are milliseconds, microseconds, minute, hour, day, week and year. It is measured using clocks, stop watches, wrist watches, and digital watches.

WHAT IS CYBERBULLYING The best way to teach is through specifically designed impulse control activities for teens.
C
yberbullying is the use of technology to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person. Online threats and mean, aggressive, or rude texts, tweets, posts, or messages all count. So does posting personal information, pictures, or videos designed to hurt or embarrass someone else. club

Cyberbullying also includes photos, messages, or pages that don’t get taken down, even after the person has been asked to do so. In other words, it’s anything that gets posted online and is meant to hurt, harass, or upset someone else. Intimidation or mean comments that focus on things like a person’s
gender, religion, sexual orientation, race, or physical differences count as discrimination, which is against the law in many states. That means the police could get involved, and bullies may face serious penalties. Online bullying can be particularly damaging and upsetting because it’s usually anonymous Edgars Club @ 5 years
or hard to trace. It’s also hard to control, and the person being victimized has no idea how many people (or hundreds of people) have seen the messages or posts. People can be tormented nonstop whenever they check their device or computer. Online bullying and harassment can be easier to commit than other acts of bullying because the bully doesn’t have to confront his or her target in person. What Are the Consequences of Cyberbullying? Sometimes, online bullying, like other kinds of bullying, can lead to serious long-lasting problems. The stress of being in a constant state of upset or fear can lead to problems with mood, energy level, sleep, and appetite. It also can make someone feel jumpy, anxious, or sad. If someone is already depressed or anxious, cyberbullying can make things much worse. It’s not just the person being bullied who gets hurt. The punishment Edgars Club @ 5 years
for cyberbullies can be serious. More and more schools and after-school programs are creating systems to respond to cyberbullying. Schools may dismiss bullies from sports teams or suspend them from school. Some types of cyberbullying may violate school codes or even break antidiscrimination or sexual harassment laws. So a bully may face serious legal trouble.

Why Do People Do It? Why would someone be a cyberbully? There are probably as many reasons as there are bullies themselves. Sometimes, what seems like online harassment may be accidental. The impersonal nature of text messages, posts, and other ways of communicating online means it can be hard to figure out if someone is joking or not. Most people know when they’re being bullied, though, because bullying involves repeated insults or threats. The people doing the bullying know they’ve crossed a line, too. It’s not a one-off joke
or insult — it’s constant harassment and threats that go beyond typical fun teasing or a nasty comment made in anger.
What Can I Do About Cyberbullying? Sometimes, people are afraid or not sure if they’re being bullied or not. So they don’t do anything about it. If you’re being bullied, harassed, or teased in a hurtful way — or know someone who is — you don’t have to suffer in silence. In fact, you absolutely should report any upsetting texts, messages, posts, or emails. 147 Tell someone. Most experts agree: The first thing to do is tell an adult you trust. This is often easier said than done. People who are cyberbullied may feel embarrassed or reluctant to report a bully. Some may hesitate because they’re not 100% sure who is doing the bullying. But bullying can get worse, so speak up until you find someone to help. Sometimes the police can track down an anonymous online bully, so it’s often November 2019

worthwhile to report it. Most parents are so concerned about protecting their kids that sometimes they focus on taking major steps to stop the bullying. If you’re being bullied and worry about losing your phone or computer privileges, explain your fears to your parents. Let them know how important it is to stay connected, and work with them to figure out a solution that doesn’t leave you feeling punished as well as picked on. You may have to do some negotiating on safe phone 148 148 or computer use — the most important thing is to first get the bullying under control. You also can talk to your school counselor or a trusted teacher or family member. If the bullying feels like it’s really getting you down (like if it’s affecting your sleep or concentration), therapy can help. If you’re not ready for that, you can still benefit from the support of a trusted adult. Walk away. What you’ve heard about walking away from a real-life bully works in the virtual world club

too. Ignoring bullies is the best way to take away their power, but it isn’t always easy to do — in the real world or online. If you see something upsetting, try to step away from the computer or turn off your phone for a while. Don’t respond, and never forward the message to someone else. Find something to distract yourself from what’s going on. Do something you love that doesn’t give you time to think about what’s happening, like playing the guitar, going for a run, or losing yourself in a book or movie. You can also just chat with a parent or sibling or play with a pet. Taking a break like this allows you to keep things in perspective and focus on the good things in your life. It also gives you time to figure out how you want to handle things. Resist the urge to retaliate or respond. Walking away or taking a break when you’re faced with online bullying gives you some space so you won’t be tempted to fire back a response or engage
with the bully or bullies. Responding when we’re upset can make things worse. (Standing up to a bully can be effective sometimes, but it’s more likely to provoke the person and escalate the situation.) Taking a break gives the power back to you! Although it’s not a good idea to respond to a bully, it is a good idea to save evidence of the bullying if you can. It can help you prove your case, if needed. You don’t have to keep mean emails, texts, or other communications where you see them all the time — you can ask a parent to make a copy or save them to a flash drive. Report bullying. Social media sites take it seriously when people post cruel or mean stuff or set up fake accounts. If users report abuse, the site administrator may block the bully from using the site in the future. If someone sends you mean texts or emails, report it . Block the bully. Most devices have settings that let you electronically block the bully or bullies from sending notes. Edgars Club @ 5 years

The Midas Touch
n ancient Greek, there was a king named Midas. He had a lot of gold and everything he needed. He also had a beautiful daughter. Midas loved his gold very much, but he loved his daughter more than his riches.
One day, a satyr named Silenus got drunk and passed out in Midas’ rose garden. Believing that Satyrs always bring good luck, Midas lets Silenus rest in his palace until he is sober, against the wishes of his wife and daughter. Silenus is a friend of Dionysus, the god of wine and celebration. Upon learning Midas’ kindness towards his friend, Dionysus decides to reward the keg. When asked to wish for something, Midas says “I wish everything I touch turns to gold”. Although Dionysus knew it was not a great idea, he granted Midas his wish. Happy that his wish was granted, Midas Edgars Club @ 5 years
went around touching random things in the garden and his palace and turned them all into gold. He touched an apple, and it turned into a shiny gold apple. His subjects were astonished but happy to see so much gold in the palace.
In his happiness, Midas went and hugged his daughter, and before he realized, he turned her into a lifeless, golden statue! Aghast, Midas ran back to the garden and called for Dionysus. He begged the god to take away his power and save his daughter. Dionysus gives Midas a solution to change everything back to how it was before the wish. Midas learned his lesson and lived the rest of his life contended with what he had. Moral: Do not get greedy. Be happy and content with what you have. November 2019
