mental cognition and health. Players need to be constantly thinking and aware of what moves to make, where other players are on the court and how to cope and react under pressure. Additionally, mental improvements are also enhanced, as playing basketball helps to improve motor skills and coordination, boosts self-image, reduces stress and improves sleeping habits. All these aspects help assist adults in living a healthy lifestyle.Research shows that whilst fitness results can vary from person to person, there are valid socio-emotional health benefits to participating in group or team athletics. Exercise is also important for adults to stay motivated and set goals. Planned training sessions and games also ensure people stay motivated and committed to their teammates.
POPULAR LUNGES Lunges are a popular strength training exercise among people wanting to strengthen, sculpt, and tone their bodies, while also improving overall fitness and enhancing athletic performance. This resistance exercise is popular for its ability to strengthen your back, hips, and legs, while improving mobility and stability. Lunges are ideal for those wishing to get stronger and for current athletes, including runners and cyclists.

WHAT IS COQ10
club
CoQ10, a very important antioxidant used throughout the body, is specifically useful to avoid muscle fatigue in both strength and endurance athletes. It regulates inflammatory pathways in the body that naturally increase during and after exercise. This can be taken any time throughout the day, not needed right after exercise. Bonus: it’s also beneficial for cardiovascular health. February-March 2020

Fresh chopped parsley INSTRUCTIONS Directions 1. To cook your pork chops in creamy garlic spinach sauce: Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the pork chops with paprika, salt and pepper on both sides, and sear in the hot pan, for 3-5 minutes on each side depending on the thickness, or until cooked to your liking. Once done, remove pork chops from the pan and set aside. 2. Melt butter in the remaining cooking juices in the same pan. Add garlic, onion, Italian seasoning, and red crushed chili pepper and stir-fry until fragrant, about one minute. Add in the vegetable or chicken stock, and allow to reduce a little. 3. Reduce heat to low heat, add the half and half (or heavy cream), and bring the creamy sauce to a gentle simmer. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper. 4. Add the spinach leaves and allow to wilt in the sauce, and stir in the parmesan cheese (if using). Allow sauce to simmer for a further minute until cheese melts through the sauce. 5. Transfer the pork chops back into the pan to reheat; sprinkle with the parsley, and spoon the sauce over each pork chops. Serve over steamed vegetables, zucchini noodles or cauliflower rice. Enjoy! Note: You can use dry white wine instead of vegetable stock if you prefer. Edgars Club @ 5 years
Live Food
Notes To make juicy, tender pork chops on the grill, there are really only two things you need to know. The challenge is that pork chops are relatively lean. They can have some fat near the bone, but overall, the meat is pretty fat-free. That’s good if you’re trying to be healthy, but it means that the slightest bit of overcooking can make your chops tough and dry. So what do you do? One, don’t overcook it. Pork doesn’t have to be as well done as you might think. According to chefs go for medium-rare, not medium or even well done. If you’re checking with a thermometer, that means 62-65°C. If you’re checking by touch, that means a chop that’s 1 and 1/4 inches thick (or less) should feel barely firm to the touch and definitely not rigid. So, use this if you want to roast pork or pork loin, too. On my grill, that means 5 to 6 minutes per side, but use a thermometer or the touch method and calibrate the cooking time to your grill. And two, brine! We can’t recommend brining enough. It’s really easy to do, and it really helps any kind of lean meat, from pork chops to chicken breasts to turkey, stay juicy and flavorful. Especially if you’re cooking over a high, dry heat like you have with a grill.

But sometimes that voice can be cruel—even though it’s ultimately dictated by you. Most people have a loud inner critic which makes their life more stressful.Learning to have a reassuring and soothing inner voice can make a big difference in improving your mental health. Obviously that’s easier said than done, but here’s a good place to start: When your inner voice is giving you really crappy freedback and advice, stop and consider how you would talk to your best friend in this situation. The term divan originated in Persia. Traditionally, a divan refers to a long seat made from a mattress that is placed against a wall with cushions to lean on. The modern-day divan has a mattress-like seat that is tufted and sits on a low-profile frame. Divans are still typically placed against a wall and decorated with pillows, and are often used as a bed for guests. According to a magazine, “think of the divan as the daybed’s older, more lounge-worthy sibling.” Divan, from the Middle East, was a long seat formed of a mattress laid against the side of the room, upon the floor or upon a raised structure or frame, with cushions to lean against.

Family Physician Family medicine is one of the primary care specialties. Family practice physicians see patients of all ages, provide basic care for a variety of common

ailments, are usually the first to recognize major health problems, and may order diagnostic tests or refer to a specialist. Internal Medicine Physician General internists provide primary care to adult patients and can take additional training after internal medicine residency to sub-specialize in a variety of other areas, such as gastroenterology, endocrinology, or cardiology.
Pediatrician Pediatricians take care of younger patients, from infancy through age 18 or, in some cases, age 21.4 Pediatricians provide primary health care to children, including immunizations, well-baby checks, school physicals, and treatment of coughs, colds, and stomach flu, among many other things. More seriously ill or complicated patients may be referred to a pediatric sub-specialist for specialized treatment.
Internists usually have more hospital-based training than family practitioners and may have an office-based practice or work as hospitalists, primarily seeing patients in the hospital.

Surgeon Surgeons can be trained in general surgery or in more specialized areas of surgery, such as hand surgery, pediatric surgery, surgical oncology, or vascular surgery. Surgeons spend time planning a surgical procedure, operating in the operating room, and then following up postoperatively to identify complications and to confirm that the procedure was a success. The training to become a surgeon is typically several years longer than training for primary care. medication. Psychiatrists may be office-based, hospital-based, or a combination of the two. There are a number of different specialty areas within psychiatry. For instance, some psychiatrists may focus on child and adolescent psychiatry, addiction medicine, or on treating older people. Cardiologist Cardiology is one of many sub-specialties of internal medicine. Cardiologists focus on treatment of the heart and its blood vessels. Training to become a cardiologist is fairly extensive, as several years of fellowship are required after completing three years of internal medicine residency. Dermatologist Dermatology is one of the most competitive fields for physicians. Typically, only the very top medical students are accepted into dermatology residency programs. This is because dermatologists are very well compensated due to aesthetic and cash-pay elective procedures such
as Botox, laser treatments, and more. Plus, the quality of life is excellent compared to peers in medicine, with little to no on-call time required due to the nature of the work. Endocrinologist A sub-specialty of internal medicine, endocrinologists treat the endocrine system— the glands that produce and secrete hormones that control and regulate nearly all of the body’s functions. People with diabetes or thyroid disease are often treated by an endocrinologist. Gastroenterologist A sub-specialty of internal medicine, gastroenterologists treat the digestive system. This field attracts physicians who enjoy doing procedures, but who also like seeing patients in an outpatient setting as well. Infectious Disease Physician Infectious disease physicians deal with infections that are hard to diagnose or treat. A sub-specialty of internal Edgars Club @ 5 years
medicine, infectious disease physicians treat serious infections such as swine flu, bird flu, and HIV/AIDS, among other communicable diseases. Nephrologist Nephrologists treat kidney disease and prescribe dialysis for those experiencing kidney failure. These physicians train in internal medicine and then sub-specialize in nephrology, which requires an additional two to three years of fellowship training. Ophthalmologist Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who treat diseases or disorders of the eyes, such as cataracts and glaucoma. They perform eye surgery when necessary. Vision correction that cannot be handled by an optometrist may be treated by an ophthalmologist. Otolaryngologist Otolaryngologists, also known as otorhinolaryngologists, are more commonly referred to as ENTs, which stands for “ear, nose, and Edgars Club @ 5 years

ENTs cover a lot of issues including sinus problems, allergies, head and neck cancers, and more. As a result, many physicians sub-specialize in a specific area of otolaryngology.
Pulmonologist Pulmonologists treat the cardio-pulmonary system, which consists of the organs, including the lungs and heart, that work together to help a person breathe. They often train in critical care medicine in conjunction with pulmonary disease. As a result, they may work as intensivists (physicians who cover the intensive care unit) in addition to seeing patients in an office setting to treat breathing disorders, severe allergies, lung problems, and other diseases. Neurologist Neurologists are doctors who take care of patients with medical conditions that affect the brain, spine, or nerves.
Neurologists see patients who have complex medical disorders, such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and neuropathy. They also take care of patients who have common problems such as migraine headaches and dizziness. Physician Executive Some physicians do not practice medicine, instead, taking leading roles in healthcare policy, pharmaceutical research, or in health insurance companies. Non-clinical doctors generally are required to have completed medical school and residency, as well as to maintain a medical license.
Radiologist A radiologist is a physician who is trained in looking at and interpreting diagnostic tests. CAUSES OF YOUTH VIOLENCE The best way to teach is through specifically designed impulse control activities for teens.
O
n any given day in the world, you will find a news story about youth violence. Whether it is street violence, bullying, or a school shooting, in other. The American Psychological Association (APA) defines youth violence as an extreme form of aggression with the goal of physical harm, injury, or death. Examples club

young people ages 15 to 19 years old in the United States according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
For parents and educators of teens, it is important to recognize that these types of violent behaviors are more prevalent than they should be. In fact, homicide is the third leading cause of death among
Consequently, for this rate of violence to decrease, parents and educators need to take an active part in preventing youth violence in the lives of teens. To do this, it’s important to understand what causes
Edgars Club @ 5 years
violent youth behavior. Following are the most common causes of violence among teens.
Media Influence
Research indicates that violence in the media influences teens and can cause them to act aggressively. Although it is difficult to determine whether or not violence in media leads directly to youth violence, studies have shown that playing violent video games increases aggressive thoughts and behaviors. In fact, one study found that violent video games not only escalate aggressive behaviors, but they also increase angry thoughts as well as raise the heart rate and blood pressure of participants. Meanwhile, these video games decrease “helping behaviors” and reduce feelings of empathy. What’s more, violent video game users tend to interact with other aggressive teens, which makes them feel accepted and validated for their thoughts and feelings. While video games often Edgars Club @ 5 years
get the most attention, violence in media isn’t limited to video games. Violent media also can include the Internet, television, magazines, movies, music, advertising, social media, and more. Basically, media consists of anything your teen sees, hears, or interacts with.
Teen Communities and Neighborhoods Where teens live can also have an impact on them and lead them to act more aggressively. In fact, the CDC points to several community risk factors for youth violence including diminished economic opportunities, high levels of crime, and socially-disorganized neighborhoods. Additionally, a study found that youth violence can become a form of “street justice” in response to the lack of police protection or patrols in poorer neighborhoods. When this happens, teens may attempt to secure the neighborhood by using violence as a way of bringing order to the area. As a result, youth violence
downtime teen talk often manifests as gang violence, turf wars, gun wars, and other types of violence. When teens live in socioeconomically-challenged neighborhoods, they may feel like their only option for survival is to join a gang or to engage in violence. When this line of thinking is the norm, teens are likely to act aggressively and participate in violent behaviors.
Domestic Violence and Child Abuse
Children who live with violence in the home learn by example and can become violent people as they grow up. They also are more likely to experience teen dating violence either as a victim or an aggressor. Other contributing factors include harsh parenting styles along with chaos in the home, neglect, and rejection. Each of these situations can lead to youth violence later in life because of the lack of stability and structure in the home. Many times, violence is about power February-March 2020

downtime teen talk and control. Consequently, being violent gives the teen a feeling of power and control—something they lack at home. To combat this risk, it is important that parents consider their parenting style and make adjustments in order to reduce the likelihood of seeing violence in their teens’ lives later. Meanwhile, educators can lend support by offering parenting workshops for all their school’s parents.
88 88
Insufficient Parental Supervision
Teens who receive insufficient supervision from their parents are prone to engage in aggressive behaviors or criminal activity. Without adequate adult supervision, they do not have the resources needed to make good choices or to recognize risks. Consequently, these teens tend to make friends with the wrong people, take unnecessary risks, and experiment with things an involved parent would never allow. What’s more, when parents are permissive, their kids often have club
February-March 2020
no motivation to do well in school and may even stop caring about their future. As a whole, teenagers need fair and firm discipline and consistent interaction with and direction from their parents. When parents take an active role in their teens’ lives, it reduces the likelihood of teen violence.
Peer Pressure
Peer pressure plays a pivotal role in youth violence, especially because kids are more likely to engage in risky or violent behaviors when they act as a group. As a result, teens who normally would not be aggressive or violent on their own often feel empowered when in a group. Additionally, teens are more likely to be violent or aggressive when they feel pressured. They also may become violent in order to maintain their place in the group. Peer pressure can even lead teens to engage in risk taking behaviors.
Drug and Alcohol
Abuse
Alcohol and drug use has long been associated with the risk for youth violence. In fact, both alcohol and drug use can increase aggression and reduce fear, which increases the likelihood of youth violence. While teens usually engage in recreational drug and alcohol use to feel good, prolonged use of illicit drugs often brings about feelings of depression, anger, and frustration. These feelings can then lead a teen to exhibit behaviors of aggression and rage.4
Traumatic Events
Dealing with traumatic events also can cause violent behavior in teens. For instance, teens who lose a friend in a car accident that they also were involved in often get angry at the fact that they were the ones that lived. Because anger is a normal stage of grief, a violent outburst from these teens may seem justified. But, while anger is a normal emotion, it is not normal to be violent toward an-

other person.
downtime teen talk
When violence occurs, it should always be addressed. Meanwhile, teens who exhibit signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to a traumatic event also may be prone to violence. In fact, violent outbursts are typically a symptom of PTSD, and if left untreated, can manifest in significantly violent situations. For this reason, it is extremely important for teens with PTSD to get the counseling and intervention that they need.
Mental Illness
Mental illness is another cause of violence among teens. In fact, mental health issues like attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), bipolar, oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), and conduct disorder all have aggressive behaviors or angry feelings as common symptoms.
89
Teen mental illness sometimes hides behind other causes of youth violence. For instance, a teen with bipolar disorder may be using drugs. If this teen becomes violent, the drug use could hide the fact that the bipolar illness is part of the cause. For this reason, it is important that teens engaging in violent behaviors are evaluated for a mental illness. By treating the entire person rather than just the symptoms, you are more likely to reduce the risk of additional violent outbursts. Edgars Club @ 5 years

Again it played the same trick hoping that the cotton bag would be still become lighter. But the dampened cotton became very heavy to carry and the donkey suffered. It learnt a lesson. It didn’t play the trick anymore after that day, and the seller was happy. Moral of the story: Luck won’t favor always.

The Milkmaid & Her Pail P
atty the Milkmaid was going to market carrying her milk in a Pail on her head. As she went along she began calculating what she would do with the money she would get for the milk. “I’ll buy some fowls from Farmer Brown,” said she, “and they will lay eggs each morning, which I will sell to the parson’s wife. With the money that I get from the sale of these eggs I’ll buy myself a new dimity frock and a chip hat; and when I go to market, won’t all the young men come up and speak to me! Polly Shaw will be that jealous; but I don’t care. I shall just look at her and toss my head like this.” As she spoke she tossed her head back, the Pail fell off it, and all the milk was spilt. So she had to go home and tell her mother what had occurred. “Ah, my child,” said the mother: “Do not count your chickens before they are Edgars Club @ 5 years
