I am delighted that you have chosen to apply to Edge Hill University. Today’s Applicant Visit Day will give you the chance to find out more about your chosen academic areas of interest and look around our vibrant campus, which is amongst the best in British higher education. I would particularly recommend a visit to the latest milestone in a £250m programme of campus development, our new state-of-the-art Sports Centre facilities.

Edge Hill Sport Edge Hill Sport operate all the campus sports facilities and student sport programmes with a range of ways for you to get involved.

Sandwich Placements, Faculty of Arts and Sciences A sandwich placement is a year working in industry taken by students between the second and third year of a degree. Sandwich placements typically last for 48 weeks running from September to August of a given year. For students, the aim is to build, develop and apply their skills as acquired through their degree in order to improve their employability prospects once they graduate.

Study Abroad and Language Opportunities Speak to a member of staff from the Study Abroad team about the exciting opportunities to study or work abroad as part of your degree. Information is also available on our new Language Centre where you can develop your language skills whether English is your first language or not.

Learning Services Learning Services incorporates; Library Services, Media and ICT support, Inclusive Services and support for SpLD, Academic skills and Learning Technology Development (incorporating Blackboard). Speak to our expert staff to find out about the direction, support and guidance the Learning Services team can offer.

Please note Chancellors, Founders, Graduates and Palatine Court are all very similar and accommodation is the same standard.

The Student Accommodation brochure 2016 provides lots of useful information to help you select the accommodation that suits you best. Make sure you pick one up at registration.

Help during the day Information Points Each building in use during the Applicant Visit Day will have an Information Point, with friendly members of staff who can help with your programme, direct you around campus and help in the event of an emergency.

Student Guides Student Guides are easily spotted in their bright purple tabards and are happy to help with anything to make your Applicant Visit Day visit run smoothly. Don’t forget to ask them about their Edge Hill experience.

Lost Property If you lose an item of your belongings or find some lost property please speak to a member of staff at an Information Point who will help you in the first instance. Toilets Toilets (including accessible facilities) are available in each building on campus. Please ask any member of staff or Student Guide for directions.

Baby Changing Facilities Available on the Ground Floor of the Business School and in the Main Building. Refreshments The Hub, Main Building

Housekeeping and Emergency Procedures

Fire Alarms On hearing the fire alarm leave the building by the nearest available exit and assemble as directed by staff and Student Guides. Do not return to the building until advised it is safe to do so.

Illness or Injury In case of illness or injury please go to the nearest Information Point or the Registration area. Staff will be able to arrange first aid assistance and will call for an ambulance if required.

Please report any injuries to staff at Information Points or in the Registration area.
