This booklet is for you if a recent progression board has conďŹ rmed that you should be transferred to part time study for the upcoming academic year. Due to the amount of module credits you have outstanding, you cannot enrol onto the next level of study in September 2019. The board has agreed that you should be transferred to part-time study to retake, in full, those modules you have not yet passed. The academic transcript which accompanies this booklet provides full details of those modules. If you successfully complete your outstanding modules during the 2019/20 academic session, you will be able to enrol onto the next level of study as a full-time student for the 2020/21 academic session.

Transfer to Part-Time Study

Introduction

What does part-time status mean for me? Your part-time status keeps you connected to Edge Hill while you complete your outstanding modules. You are still registered with the University and continue to have access to our facilities such as email, Blackboard and assessment support. Just like all other students, you are expected to attend lectures and any other activities associated with the modules you are completing. If you are absent from any scheduled session, this will be recorded in the normal way. Repeated or excessive absence will be investigated by your faculty.

How will I be assessed? You must arrange to meet with your programme leader to complete a Learning Agreement. Together you will identify any support you may need and organise personal tutorial sessions. Please be proactive and contact them as soon as possible to complete your Learning Agreement. This will need to have been completed prior to your enrolment for the next academic year. At the Learning Agreement meeting with your programme leader, you will be given access to a module handbook, together with details of submission deadlines for the coming year. Your programme leader will clarify your assessment schedule and confirm which lectures and tutorials you are expected to attend. This includes any modules which are no longer running in the new academic year. You must complete each outstanding module in full – you cannot carry over any marks. Your programme leader will confirm your assessment obligations for the year. Please note: - If your module level code is ‘Referred’, and you successfully re-take this module, your total module mark will be capped at 40% -

If your module level code is ‘Referred: Final Attempt’, this means you must successfully complete this module to complete your degree. If you do not pass this reassessment opportunity, you may be failed and withdrawn from your programme.

Your tuition fee will be charged per credit. The standard rate for 2019/20 is £77 per module credit. Our credit prices can be found at ehu.ac.uk/fees. An invoice will be raised immediately following enrolment. Even though you are completing less than 120 credits, Student Finance count this year as a full study year and include it as part of your overall funding entitlement. You are still entitled to a maintenance loan for this year. Your entitlement to a tuition fee loan will depend upon whether you have already undertaken additional study, either here at Edge Hill or elsewhere and used your Student Finance ‘gift year’. If you do not qualify for a tuition fee loan you must contact us immediately, so we can discuss arrangements for paying your tuition fee, as you will be personally responsible for payment. If you have not yet submitted your funding application, please complete it as if you are progressing to your next year of study and submit as soon as possible. We will notify Student Finance that your status has changed and adjust your tuition fee liability when your funding is approved. If you are a self-funding student, or you do not qualify for a tuition fee loan, you can arrange to pay your fee in three equal instalments at no additional cost. You will receive instruction to set this up during enrolment. We expect your fee to be paid in full before you progress onto your next year of study.

You must attend a face-to-face enrolment session on Wednesday 18 September 2019 at 10am in B002 (Business School). Please produce your Unicard at enrolment as proof of identification. Please do not enrol online. Remember, to bring along your completed Learning Agreement to the enrolment session. Please note that you will not be able to enrol until you have submitted a completed Learning Agreement. If you do not attend the enrolment session scheduled above, we will assume you have decided not to continue with your studies. You will be withdrawn from your programme and the University. When do I get my end of year results? Your end of year results will be considered by a progression board in July 2020. The board will consider your profile and make one of the following recommendations: -

If you have successfully undertaken all your outstanding modules, the board will recommend that you enrol onto the next level of study as a full-time student, in September 2020

-

If your outstanding modules are coded ‘referred: final attempt’ and you are not successful in repeating these during your part time study year, there will be no further right of reassessment and you may be withdrawn from the programme

-

If your outstanding modules are coded ‘deferred’ or ‘referred’ and you are not successful in repeating these, the board will make an appropriate recommendation and notify you in writing.

Results are published in July 2020. Information on the exact publication date is emailed to your university account in December 2020.
