Aaron Astley, USA “Words, pictures, or videos don’t give justice to how great the experience of studying at Edge Hill University is. Here, I feel like I am not just a number: I am my individual self. The faculty and staff are down to earth, friendly, and have a great sense of humor. They know me so well, and it makes me feel at home.
The classes are very enjoyable with academics that enjoy every bit of what they teach and the Student Services staff are always happy to help. Choosing to study here was the best decision I ever made. Every second has been worth more than I ever could have imagined. Don’t wait, take the opportunity… or it will pass you by.”
Brianna Walker, USA “Spending a semester abroad in England and at Edge Hill University has greatly expanded my horizons in so many different ways. I have grown as an individual and have become a truly international person.”
“I chose Edge Hill University over all other universities, because I knew that in other places like London I would encounter more foreign students and not enough British people. My goal was to come to England and work towards understanding England, the accents, the people, the food and to immerse myself into the British culture.”
Changsoon Lee, South Korea “Studying in the UK is a once in a life time opportunity. Studying as an international student here was a time of growth and independence. I think that my horizons have been expanded and that my personal goals have been multiplied. I developed so many new skills, met so many new people and did so many new things here. Would I study in the UK if I had the choice again? Definitely, yes.”

We have an extensive range of opportunities for students to become involved in sports clubs and cultural societies. The best way to integrate with British and other international students is to join clubs and societies, which can also provide opportunities for travel within the UK and beyond. New members are always welcome. International students frequently represent EHU in competitions between British universities.
The Students’ Union (SU) provides a diverse program of entertainment and activities to suit the varied tastes of the EHU student. The range of societies varies from year to year depending on the interests of the students so if you have an idea for a new social/sports group, go into the SU office and they’ll tell you exactly how to set up a society of your own.
You will receive an NUS card that will entitle you to discounts at shops and cinemas throughout the country. The Union also offers help and advice on national and local issues.

“I’d enjoyed visiting England a few years ago and so wanted to return and spend a longer period of time here. I really like the fact that Edge Hill is located in a small town rather than a big city, where I would just feel overwhelmed.
Coming over here has improved and changed my life for the better. It is very difficult to leave home and find yourself in a completely new environment, but finding activities of interest and trying out new things is a sure way to alleviate any problems.
The staff here have helped me to settle in, and the international office especially have gone to a lot of trouble.
There are a lot of minor differences between Edge Hill and universities in the USA and, although none of them are anything major, I have felt stressed at times. This is where good support is vital and really does help you get through any little setbacks.
I really want to concentrate now on putting in the work I need to do well. Once I graduate I think I’d like to go and do an internship somewhere and then possibly some more travelling.”
