There are opportunities for students to represent Team Edge Hill either in a team or in individual events against other universities both locally and nationally in the British Universities and Colleges Sport ( BUCS ) competitions, which represents some of the highest level sport in the country. There is the opportunity for some teams to also compete in local leagues.

Clubs train weekly on the university facilities and play fixtures both at home and away at other universities most Wednesday afternoons. Many of our higher performing teams have professional coaches employed to help improve skills development at training and to provide match day support at fixtures

All sports clubs will be present at Freshers’ Fair in the first week but if you miss this then contact the sports centre for further information about what is available. All sports club members must obtain a Team Edge Hill membership from the sports centre which will cost £40.00 for the year which includes everything that you will need including training, match day kit, coaching ( where appropriate ), insurance and transport. A selection of the sports clubs and individual sports available are shown here but there are others so just ask.

Campus Sport The Campus Sport programme offers a range of activities throughout the year for students, staff and the community and is a great way to make new friends and keep yourself active. ‘Get Active’ is a programme of traditional sports such as Netball, Badminton and Football as well as some that you may never have tried before like Touch Rugby. With the idea that there is no commitment to join a team or club or even play every week, you can simply just turn up either on your own or with friends and play and have fun. Some sessions are led by instructors offering coaching tips and advice in that particular sport. Many sessions are led by a sports activator who will greet you and make you feel welcome and help you get involved ensuring that everyone gets a go, and others are just about turning up and taking part and having fun. There is already a regular weekly 6-a-side football league running but we will also be looking at introducing other ‘Game On’ leagues in other sports through the year. So whether you want to take part as an individual or with others as part of a team there should be something for everyone To find out more about the programme go to the website at: edgehill.ac.uk/edgehillsport/activities
