English Language Courses International Foundation Programme 1 year, full time
The International Foundation Programme (IFP) has been specifically developed for International Students who would like to study for an undergraduate degree, but don’t have the relevant qualifications or English language ability, or are returning to study after a break.
If you would like to improve your English Language skills and academic ability, or have recently finished your studies in high school (equivalent to British AS-level, or Year 12), then this course will give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to start a degree course.
If the International Foundation Programme is completed successfully, your English Language ability will be at least IELTS 6.0, enabling you to progress to degree study in a wide range of areas, including a guaranteed place on an Edge Hill degree programme.
1 year, full time
This programme provides an entry route for international students onto selected one-year, full-time Edge Hill University Masters awards. It provides an opportunity for those without the standard entry requirements to achieve a Graduate Diploma and develop the academic and English language skills, subject-specific knowledge and core research techniques required for postgraduate study.
Pre-Sessional English Language 8 weeks, full-time
The Language Centre at Edge Hill University offers an 8 week Pre-sessional English Language course. This is an ideal programme of study if you need to improve your academic skills, focus on your target discipline and raise your overall English Language level before you join your main course. How to Apply
Most international students coming to study at Edge Hill University will need to apply for a Tier 4 student visa. A Tier 4 visa allows international students to study at the educational institution stated on their visa, for the duration of their course with limited working hours. Working in the UK Many international students will be able to work part-time whilst studying at Edge Hill. However, even for those that are allowed to work, there are restrictions on the type and the number of hours you can work which will be stated on your Biometric Residence Permit (BRP).
Coming to the UK for less than 6 months If your course is less than 6 months in length then it is likely that you will come to the UK on a short-term study visa. Students are not allowed to work on this type of visa.
